Be Perfect

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Matthew 5:43-48 KJV
(43) Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
(44) But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
(45) That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
(46) For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
(47) And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
(48) Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Jesus calls us his Fatherís children if we follow in His footsteps and walking in the perfection we have been called to as children of God. Not one of Godís children are perfect, but we are called to be perfect. Called to walk in the maturity of faith and love. To love when our attitude is in opposition in our heart and mind. To love when one thought it impossible. There are people in the world that can hold their attitude in check despite what is going on and otherís wear it on their shirt sleeve part of time, or all the time. These people wearing it on their sleeves would not have necessarily master the art of love, patience, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness and so forth becoming a person that walks in the maturity of the Spirit of God and not after the world.

As Donald Trumps began his campaign some would of consider his behavior unruly, yet there groups of people that understood that type of campaigning while others sneered whether outwardly or inwardly that this behavior not fitting of a politician. Hillary Clinton is taking the passive approach I will continue the work of President Obama, and making the mistake of not saying I adding new changes of my own. Would she be consider a child of President Obama or her husband former President Clinton. Then you have some in republican party still trying hard to figure out their nitch so to speak, trying hard to get the attention of crowd with their words of speech of change and reform. Political revolution some have recently called it. I am sitting back and think political revolution or grabbing hold of the founders fatherís ideology of our constitution, concerning liberty and freedom. How has American lost these goals no one knows, but big brother causes much watchdog fever. Watchdog fever is trying to catch everyone making mistakes both embarrassing and comical for some people. Some rather dying then to hold the reality they are human. Yet the watch dog tracking devices across our land, from cell phones, to computers of any kind, constantly watch our steps.

For those that strive for perfection this can be a mental challenge. It can be a challenge of making sure one even sneezes the right way. Walks the streets in the perfect strut, and never falling in snow. Learning the balancing act like that whoops looked like a planned error. Error to make someone smile or to relate to others through mimickry that are not so perfect at the same thing. Comic relief or just saying I do it too.

Globe spending time on social media just to see friend and family far and wide being human like everyone else. Yet where is the attitude I am going to be more like my Heavenly Father and not like everyone else. The ice bucket challenge began a fever of encouraging copy cats. Yet the copy cat behavior one needs is copying their heavenly Father. Walking in the perfection of love, knowing when someone would be hurt by certain things or not.

Walking in perfection of the love of God seems impossible in certain situations. To love when someone threatens you, or shows hatred to you. To love as the disciples had learned under Christ during persecution. Christ always giving answer to everyone that ask except during his final trial. Christ always ready to share about the love of His Father and his love that works in perfect harmony in life. His love being unconditional yet one thing requiring is faith in Him.

Loving someone not lovable destroys more enemies then hate ever did. Showing more kindness and mercy calms the worse attitudes at times. Yet sometimes showing are human side helps the world know they too can be saved by the love of Jesus. Seeing our imperfection is not a crime, yet our goaled to walk in the perfection of Jesus is to demonstrate coming of full age of faith. Every Christian goes through babyhood, teenage years and young adulthood, if they make it, because they know God loves them as they are, but desires them to walk in perfection. Walk in the perfection of love and the Spirit. Walk in obedience to the Spirit and not the world. Are you striving today to walk by the Spirit in perfection of our Heavenly Father, or walking in the perfection of your social media friends.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to strive to walk in your perfection by obedience to your Spirit. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
