Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Deutronomy 34:1-12 KJV
1 And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mountain of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho. And the LORD shewed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan,
2 And all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah, unto the utmost sea,
3 And the south, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto Zoar.
4 And the LORD said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.
5 So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.
6 And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.
7 And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.
8 And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.
9 And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses.
10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,
11 In all the signs and the wonders, which the LORD sent him to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land,
12 And in all that mighty hand, and in all the great terror which Moses shewed in the sight of all Israel.

The day of judgment came to Moses just like it will to all that remain on this earth unless we face the judgment day of Christ return. Moses stood overlooking the valley of the promise land. Moses work was finished. He would never enter the promise land. One sin caused Moses inability to enter the promiseland. How easily it was for Moses to execute and speak God's words in the wilderness as he watched by the power of God knowing he was going to face the punishment of God for his sin of direct disobedience. Moses trying to controll God's authority of when he hit the rock twice instead of speaking the word of the Lord as God commanded, but the water pour out anyway. The cost of not speaking God's word when order to, cost Moses not his eternity but his reward of victory of going into the promise land with a triumphal march, the land that God enabled him to lead Israel too. The story is found in Numbers 20.

How precious is God's authority and word that anyone would decide not to obey it. Yet in truth we all lack that fear at times in our life. Maybe distraction and not focus on the things above that we seek not God will but our own power. There is always things in our world we think we have a right to try to control. It still took the power of God for the water to flow, but all he need to do was speak the word. It like prayer, all we have to do is pray and God hears and answers us. Yet how he answers may not always be to our liking. Yet it is the fear of God that perhaps keeps us in check to God's power. Yet Moses knew the power of God and disobeyed. Our humanity steals our salvation everytime. God wants us to obey to the full letter of his word. What that means, is God wants us to learn to obey him. Moses was not exempt from heaven only the promise land of Israel, where his word would reign in wisdom and truth, until Israel would no longer respect or fear God. When there is no fear of God there is no protection against God's wrath, or his judgment. Moses learned that God would keep his promise of not allowing Moses into the promise land. The next time we see Moses is at the transfiguration before Jesus death. No one knows what Jesus spoke to Moses about before going to the cross but we know Moses came from heaven to speak to Jesus.

God's word was buried with Christ death only for him to picked his life back up with his resurrection. With the resurrection came a new hope of eternal life. Man can not bury God's word, God's word came despite the crucifixion. It cause earthquake, the sky to darken, the veil in the temple to be ripped, and it cause the dead to be raised up that had believed in the word of God. Imagine Moses lived in fear of the word of God all the days after his sin, because he knew that his disobedience would be paid upon delivery of Israel to the edge of the promise land. Israel and those in the land of Israel seen the events of the crucifixion and experience an abnormal day that would change the course of mankind for eternity. The shell shocking events would last into our century. Mankind is still talking about the death and resurrection of Jesus. Yet the message is to be carried, but it is not the only work of God, however it is the only work of salvation that is given to man that was promised for eternity with belief.

What is the Bible about? It is about the life of Christ, about the life man, about the word of God delivering, judging, loving, and giving hope to not only the believer but the believer who is willing to obey God's word and turn from sin. Key is turning away from sin. Turning from disobedience to God. Asking for forgiveness for all our sins and believing in Jesus who dies and rose again, for payment for our sin. A sin that Jesus never deserved but mankind did. The searching and seeking God. What is your decision today? God's word will either take you to hell, or it take you to heaven, depending the choice you make to believe in Jesus or not to believe.

Dear Heavenly Father, let your word stand in our hearts as truth and help us to obey your word because of our love for you not just our fear of you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

Romans 10:5-13 KJV
5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.
6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)
7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)
8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
