Caught In The Morning

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

John 8:2-11 KJV
2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

One early morning as I was walking I seen woman leave a man's house that she probably was not married too. I paid little attention except to take note it was not the usual vehicle at the man's house. The question is it a moral issue, I did not find them in bed together only leaving the man's house. She could of been there for any reason. A nurse in care of physical therapy, a cook, a house keeper, or perhaps a friend dropping off something at his house. No I did not see her arrive nor do I know if she spent the night. The point is how quick do rumors fly about someone if one sees a person not in the normal place. There many reason for anything, at least it was broad daylight and not the wee hours of the morning. As I continued my journey walking that morning, I meet another woman going after her morning coffee at a local store. She was very frank about her situation. She been at her boyfriends house all week and needed a lift down the road. I might of given the girl a ride if I been a little younger more her age, but because I knew her not and I was on my feet walking in another direction, i felt best to decline giving her a ride to some location I knew not. I ask her why she did not ask her boyfriends family to help, she implied they did not like her much. So I went on down the road as she went into the store for her coffee. The location she was head was a known drug house and some had been died recently of a drug over dose in the area. My thoughts were was this the last time I see this woman. Judgment pass with no evidence.

There is point is this proof that will stop confusion in our world. Is fact news corrupting our society because it is started by a particial story. Now the story today of the adultress woman in John 8, was caught in the very act of adultry. Jesus was teaching outside the temple the morning when the scribes and Pharisees sought to entrap him or to stone a woman either way it mattered not to those Pharisees and scribes. They took this woman out of the sexual act of some sort, but not her accomplice. Had he fleed on foot do not know. Here she stood before Jesus, perhaps in a robe/ or blanket covering around her, tolatly humilated. Here she stood in the mist of this crowd around Jesus waiting her fait. Jesus seemly to be ignoring the situation but was not stooped down and wrote upon the ground. He said if anyone with out sin cast the first stone. Almost like saying lets play russian roulette and see who pulls the trigger. The woman was guilty, there was no question she was caught in the act. Yet no one was willing to pick up a stone to kill her.

The Bible is full of judgment, speaking of wars and not so much of daily life of daily conversation, but conversations to God and to Christ, direction on how to live. What wrong with stating a sin with proof, nothing it is a fact. However can it be done with tact, perhaps. Does sin change the status of guilt, no but the response on how to punish changed with the question who going to cast the first stone. Old Testament law would of stoned the woman to death and the man. One went loose the other dragged to trial. Yet not one person was without sin. Jesus was not going to condemn her either.

If we ever been caught in sin, are we punished for it. Could Trump faced charges for anything the senators had done themselves. Oh don't go there. To investigate in a foreign country you have to go to some degree through their government. The point being what senator had not asked a foreign leader to help with an investigation before, specially into trades and other things. Yet one flaw he was not president at the time he made the request of a foreign government. Does that change the outcome apparently not. No help from the embassy I suspect. Yet with this in mind did it anger the democrats of course this is their leader, but so was Trump. Who side you take does it split the democratic party, they got alot of candidates running this season.

Back to Bible, the point is Bible law. How many priest had a relationship with a harlot? It was not uncommon in the Bible. Or were they grieved by some other sin. The world may never know the answer, we only know they walked away. The humanity of sin, is far reaching. No one is exempt, and if we can show a little more compassion when someone elses sins it far greater. For it is the love of Christ that compassion is shown to you and I, who are sinners and in need of God's grace and mercy. Without God's mercy we would we have faced Old Testament law of stoning. If you slept with someone before marriage you be stoned. The law of God's grace and mercy we see through Christ ministry. We see the wrath of God in the Old Testament and spoken in the new. What the difference mercy given to God's children only and the repenting sinner for his salvation. How long God grace will be merciful to the sinful man, I do not know, but I know without faith, all sinner perish. Jesus did not come the first time to condemn but to show mercy. He tells the woman to go and sin no more.

Requirement of salvation is go and sin no more, yet we do. How long will God bear with his wicked children, and how long will children of continue to believe some sin is exemptable from God's correction. Sin will be corrected if it continues in a believers life. Sin of unbelief in God is corrected with faith, but is our life style declaring we are believers or that we are only sinners ignoring Christ's correction. No one is exempt, for we all ignore his word. For we all wonder what is wrong with what we do or do not do. We all struggle to make since of tradtional law of man and continual law of God's grace. Do you believe the response of God to your sin if you do not turn from it? As a child of God we have security with faith in Jesus, but do we follow in obedience to His word or in disobedience as children going in a direction not pleasing to God. Not necessarily unpleasing to mankind. Start reading today and go and sin no more.

Dear Heavenly Father help us begin our day with the attitude I will examine myself to see if my actions are of God or of sinful world. I will strive to obey God's word when each law that I am a breaker of is searched out whether it be a law of faith, law of tradition or a legal law. May your Spirit correct me and search my heart for those things not pleasing in your sight. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

Hebrew 12:5-14 KJV 5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. 9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? 10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. 11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. 12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; 13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. 14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
