Out Of The Belly

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

John 7:33-44 KJV
33 Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.
34 Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come.
35 Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?
36 What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come?
37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
40 Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.
41 Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?
42 Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?
43 So there was a division among the people because of him.
44 And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him.

Out of the belly shall flow rivers of living water according to John 7:38. What does that mean why is it important. The message of Christ going forth out of Israel when the Spirit of God has come. It already was leaking outwards with the coming of Christ once more. The word of God proclaimed across the earth is like a spring flowing outward and onward across the land. It only take a small spark to get God's word flowing. When it begins man understands not and it will not cease flowing though areas maybe harden by the word of God. The generation that hears God is the generation that does not forsake God. It is the generation that hears and continues to pass it on. If we see Jesus as only a man we know the flow of God's word was rich in his vocabulary. Yet if we understand him being more then a man, God's word flowed out even unto the Gentile nation that would hear and come running to Israel to see this prophet, teacher, Messiah, leading the people of his day to repentance, healing and soundness of God's word.

Many new not Jesus was born in the city of David or his ancestory lines were of David. He was from Galilee where he grew up except for a short time in Egypt as a baby/young child. The word of God spoke to the people so the wonder at his teaching and new for a fact he was a prophet, but not where he came from. Yet Jesus ministry was to both the Jews and the Gentiles of his day. Some would of had him arrested for his teaching but others would not, so no one did a thing, because his teaching brought often division among the people.

The message of God is still the same today, Jesus was teaching Old Testament only to be teaching about the prophetic Messiah to come and speaking as he was the Messiah which he is, but the word being present was a new reality, not understood by all. Jews would be blind to the Messiah coming that was recorded in Old Testament Scripture. What is happening as Jesus is teaching, is he opening the eyes of those that believe and the eyes of the blind are remaining closed. In Revelations it ask who is worthy to open the book that is sealed. Just because the scrolls were easily read it did not mean many understood what was locked away from the mind and heart of man. Only one could open the scripture for man to be able to see by and that was the light of Christ. The return of God's Spirit had not come back to man because of unbelief, because Christ had not returned to his Father, and yet the Holy Spirit is seen present still to the believer, for Peter new Jesus was the Christ by the Holy Spirit. Yet the flow of the Spirit was only among the believers, convicting the hearts of the believer of who Jesus was.

His the Holy Spirit for everyone, or only the believer. Does not the Holy Spirit convict the heart of the sinner. Was God's Spirit fully absents from the people. The knowledge of God Father, his Spirit and His Son/Word is hard to understand sometimes. Yet if understand that God's word alone has power, we understand His Son had power and authority to open the eyes of the blind, but did not in every case, we understand blindness came about because of sin and not willing to search out scripture. Jesus would go to be with His Father, and those lost could not flow him there. Word of God as flowed on the earth since the beginning, and yet not all hearken to it. Some choose to simply ignore it and other seek only to turn away from truth and others hunger and thirst after righteousness, and devour the word of God and drink from the word of God til their belly is full and flowing out of their mouth. Revival comes, not just with the present of the Messiah, but all that would follow in his footsteps in sharing about his Father and His Son because of their own enlightenment of faith in Christ and God. The prophets of old shared their faith and the message God gave and it flow all over the land. The message of Christ was ever flowing and still flows today.

Dear Heavenly Father, let your word flow in me to the point it helps someone else to know you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

Zechariah 14:8 KJV And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.

Isaiah 29:10-11 KJV 10 For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered. 11 And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:
