Every Perfect Gift Is From Above
2/08/2020

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

James 1:12-25 KJV
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Do you love God? That sounds sort of like a silly question to anyone of faith, but in reality it is not. It is easy to be angry, to even hate God because you do not agree with something he did or does. Our own humanity often conflicts with God, because of our desire to do things our own way. Though God created us to be free minded, it does not mean he gave us the ability to agree with him always. The idea of free will might be short lived by those in complete compliance to God's way. Yet many of us never reach total compliance because of our humanity. It is easy to understand God's way is best, but in reality do we do it God's way. Christ coming was and is a blessing from above, a gift of hope, love and peace toward mankind. Yet at the same time to follow Jesus takes surrendering our life and our will to him. It is easy to blame God for everything after all did he made the serpent that lived in the garden. Yet did the serpent had free choice like Adam and Eve? He was not created for or to sin, but he rebeled against God, when he deceived man and he fell like lightening from heaven, because of sin of thinking he was God. Isaiah 14:12-13 if you got time to read. Remember man is not created for sin, but man choose it. We were created to love, honor, obey and to give glory to God like the angels of heaven.

How sinful is trickery, deceit and witchcraft? Well if you look at the fact the devil gets no opportunity to repent, his fait is sealed with eternity in eternal lake of fire, I think it very revelant to the story of the consequence of trickery, deceit and witchcraft. It is so important that we also must say without repentance there can be no forgiveness. Simon in Chapter 8 of Acts was told to repent when he tried to buy the power of God as a possession. God's power is not for us to own as if we have the power to control. When deception is used many lies occur. God is not pleased by deception or trickery. Jesus cast devils out of people. People can be delivered from witchcraft, sorcery, deception, lies and so forth. It is act of turning away, resisting and holding fast to truth and even having people praying, even when you feel the hour of darkness come. The hour to lie, to cheat, to steal, to deceive, and to sin. Even ministers need prayer for protection against sin. Against the enemy. Ever believer needs prayer to protect them against sin.

Do you love God was my original question. To love God is choosing to do things God's way, and following after God's will. It is a hard decision that all must choose truth, love, hope and faith in Christ. Faith in Jesus as being our redeemer first and for most and our teacher and friend. Jesus commands us to love God and to love others. Love is not deception, or jealousy, it is truth and compassion. What good is truth and love, if we do not exercise or put to action the word of love, hope, faith, and truth. It is easy to lay any of these things down that is essential for our walk with God. Yet it is something we need to grab a hold and not let go, even when sin beckons and entices us to follow. Sin takes oneself away from God. Yet repentance draws as close to God and obedience even closer. Why draw close to know that one day our longing to be with Him will be as it should when he turns the page for us to come home. Until that time His presents can be seen hopefully in his children, and the love, hope and truth will reign, until he returns.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to walk in light of your truth, to obey Christ teachings and your word in all truth, love and hope. Knowing our purpose is to share your light. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

John 3:20-21 KJV
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
