Do God's Commandments
2/06/2020

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Revelation 22:7-21 KJV
7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.
10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.
11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

How easy it is to fall into a trap of idol worship without meaning too. John fell to the feet of an angel that showed him the prophesy of the book. One must remember Revelations is a book about prophecy to come and about who the book is about. The book is a revelation of Jesus Christ is to come with references to the past. It is a book that continually takes place and is future and past. Wars, destructions such as storms, and things will take place until the end. Yet these things will get worse and worse compare to even now as well as then. It is also a book of love, for the warnings of plagues, and disaster is only a warning, unless one fails to obey God or is caught in middle of those who disobey God and are in the way of the storm, only to come out unarmed, beyond what is common to man. John fell at the feet of angel only to be told not to worship him to worship God(translated back to the Greek as Theos(Triune God head; Father, Son And Holy Spirit). One of the first commands God gave man was to have no other gods before him and here John is bowing to an angel. I think if someone showed me the vision John had in the way John was shown it might cause me to bow in the way John bowed, not understanding who this angel is, displaying the vision. In scripture the angels usually declare their title as not being God by saying I am angel. This one says I am a fellow servant. John does see Jesus in Revelations, so pay attention always to who is speaking, but in these begin verse of today reading it is angel. Later, Jesus will be speaking later in the chapter. The word is coming from angel. Angel in the chapter means a messenger of God in the Greek. Greek is the original language of the New Testament.

As John breaks the first command bowing to angel without knowledge he is quickly corrected to worship God(triune Godhead) Now something else happens he told not to seal up this book because the time is at hand. Time period of John is during the time of Roman Empire and the fall of empires to come. If we look at the message in Revelation or any prophetic book as only having meaning for that day and time we fail to see the importance of that book for today. God's word does not change as far as love, repentance, forgiveness and hope in times of trouble, disaster and war. Is God's word still alive in our world in regards to prophecy. The answer is yes. Yet we also must beware of the trickery and lies of Satan that will try and deceive all mankind with prophecy of his own making.

The obedience to God's commandment is told, to keep God's commandments what are God's commandments. To love God and to love others as you would yourself. The commandment is to love. The angel in verse eleven is basicly do not try and change anyone. Verse that precedes it says the time is at hand. This is speaking of the fall of Rome. If we love others they will desire the love God has in us. If we fail to love in truth, forgiveness and mercy we fail to love as God has loved each of us. Mercy hard when someone hurts the physical body, the soul, and mind of individual through constant abuse. It even harder to forgive sometimes. The difference between mercy and forgiveness is one is a demonstration of compassion and other is a mindset. One can have mercy with no forgiveness. God shows mankind mercy all the time without forgiveness, because until we ask forgiveness, we are not forgiven.

Jesus is coming back to give the reward to everyone. The reward is judgment. Blessing to those that obeyed Him and condemnation to those that did not. We are known by our works. Yet our works are only outward show of the mind, soul and heart of a person. God saying just let those people be that only show love but inwardly there is no change. The blessings of God is the right to the tree of life and may enter in to the gates of the city, speaking of the New Jerusalem.

The cost of disobedience is to be outside the city. Who are these people but people that are called dogs, sorcers, whoremongers, murders, Idolators and maketh a lie. God is Holy there is no place in the city of God for evil doers. This city is one coming down from heaven when Christ returns. Jesus is seen speaking say he sent his angel to testify of these thing, Jesus is the bright and morning Star. His light is the one that shines the brightest. He tells John do not stop those that are thirsty from coming to water of life. Do not prevent anyone coming to Him. It is freely given the water Christ has for each of us, it is salvation for our soul that is freely given. How can anyone charge for a free gift. How can anyone profit off of God. The devil and his dominions do and do so very nicely. It part of their financial survival. Understand there nothing wrong with paying a minister or teacher, but salvation is a free gift of God and who ever is thirsty should not be stopped from hearing God's word, beyond the need of rest of any minister or teacher. Beyond the necessary of work for survival. Let us not starve those who are in need of Christ and desire to know more about Jesus. There is enough of us to take the world by storm. We can not change politics but we can love the world.

One more thing do not change God's word, His word does not change, it is for everlasting to everlasting. The word is love, and God is love. God is also a Being/person and seen in Father, Son and Holy Spirit the Triune Godhead. Let us not fail to know God Jehovah, Jesus, and Spirit. Tell the good old story of faith so others might hear and believe.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to love in faith and truth in obedience to your word. Help us to share the light of your salvation through Christ Jesus. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

Matthew 22:37-40 KJV
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
