Matthew 2:1-8 KJV
1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.
5 And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,
6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
7 Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.

The Moabite star prophecied in the Old Testament. Reference it below but I already use this prophecy once. It is important to know the location of this star, because Ruth was a Moabite who was the great great mother of King David. The star prophecy speaks of two events if you read it close enough. A sceptre shall rise out of Israel and smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth(Seth, who would be the worshipper of God). The rise of the destruction of the people of God. Nazism one of the worse killings in history of the Jewish people. Anti semitic or those that do not want people of God to live. They are called by many name in our world today. And they still exist, always will tell God's judgment comes then the world will who God's people are. The christian faith is not zionism, nationalism, anti semiticism and so forth. Some of these groups use the Bible with little knowledge of it. Some people think it better to be on the side that seems to have a lot of people or what is in vogue for the time period. That not how faith works. Faith is based on belief in God and following after Christ in faith.

Herod was a king not of Jewish bloodline. The threat of his kingship was seen with the announcing of the New King of the Jews being born. King Herod made inquiries of where this king would be born. King Herod was a social Israelite, not by blood or faith but by being born in Israel and given the crown of power in the land. It is like seeing power in our land of American by birth, and American by even our Ammendments and laws, because their ability to change our laws is simple enough. It is a power that regards not our nations laws as the founding Father's ordain them. It is a power that is not a patriot by standards, but a partriot by power. Herod was such a king, that when the news of a new king was being born and was told to him, he made inquiries to learn the where abouts of this king. How the wise men learned of where Jesus was to be born by King Herod and the scribes that came to enlighten the king. The wisemen were not Jewish by faith apparently, nor Israelite being born in Israel, but they were astrologers that study the stars and Christ star appeared that been promised by the God of Israel. Moabite star lead them to their type of ruler not the king of faith, and then would lead them to the Christ's Child. Moabites were people influence by faith by even Gideon.

Anyone standing on the earth knows the night sky rotates as the earth orbits the sun. The star may of been new, but what it was probably doing was illuminating more then any star. Wise men upon seeing the direction went to Jerusalem before going to Bethlehem to see the babe, assuming the baby was the king of Israel and not king of the Jews. They seen the star while in the east, not where they were now. In other words they travel because of this star. Yet they went by Prophecy without understanding, they looked for a king that would destory the people of faith that would arise in Israel.

Does God protect his people, despite who is in power, the answer yes, but we have to ask, do you think one Jew by faith was in the land of Bethlehem after the birth of Christ or do you think they moved quickly out to escape Herod. That will be in tomorrows lesson. The surrounding areas like to mimick the laws of Israel, but did not like their faith or God. We have to look at the full picture and realize there is many things happening at the time of Christ. The difference between faith and government powers in play. Governmental power wanted to kill a spiritual king, that the Jews would of thought to be a political king like David. Jesus was a king that dealt with the human heart about faith in the God of the universe. There always be a need of separation of church and state, because there time when faith movements are not of God. Just like powers and tyranny run in political powers. There is no place for it. President Trump, President Biden and so forth have to stand for justice, if not the political world will crumble. Herod would lose power two years after the birth of Christ and Jesus would return to Nazareth of Galilee after his flight to Egypt. That my friend is in tomorrows lesson too.

Dear Heavenly Father, we know you are Lord of all, that you sent your Son to save us, and that we interact with all kinds of people that need to know your power that are not saved yet, about your love and your protection for them as well. Lord help us once more as we explore the importance of events around your Son's birth. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
