God's Story: Lesson 1
12/01/2021

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

John 1:1-18 KJV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. 18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

Where did Darkness come from. I want to begin with the beginning of Time. God was and has always been. In other words this darkness had no comphrension of light, but it did exist. Darkness was over the face of the deep in Genesis 1:2. The darkness in Genesis he call Night and it was separated from the light he created. Now what is this darkness, it is the shadow of God. God's shadow cover the earth that was without form, as His Spirit hover because it moves over the earth. Apparently like how his shadow looked over the earth enough to take his shadow and the light he created and make it day and night. Next time your outside at Night say God shadow is over us. When you see the light say Christ light shines in the sky. Christ is not the light of day in the physical sense, but the light is a represents the word of God in the sense it is what the word became when God said let there be light. Now there two lights one is a spiritual light and one is a physical light. The light that spiritual is the light of God and His Word(Christ Jesus). We do not worship the physical light of day. If we are to bow to a light, it would be to Christ Jesus in human flesh and Spirit, the light of the world is Jesus who came in the flesh with the fulness of grace and truth within him. Grace and truth being God. The fullness of God's Spirit lived within Christ flesh and in his incorruptible body that came after the resurrection.

There was man who was sent from God name John to preach and to be the forerunner of Christ. This man not yet born in God's story that is being spoken about, but in this chapter he is already here and telling the story of how God was and is, and how he sent the Messiah(Jesus Christ) to save you and me. If I had to start God's story anywhere this would be the chapter with references to the first book in the Bible called Genesis chapter 1. Paul has a verse that as meaning in 2 Corinthians that the god of the this world had blinded the minds of them that believed not. Who is the God of this world. Some try to say Satan, but if God created the heavens and the earth, who truly is the God of this world. Now spiritually speaking the world maybe blinded to who created the earth, and who is God of this earth, because Satan goes around deceiving God's children. Often the world is in reference to those in option to God and not part of the light in the world. Yet we have to understand this definition would often be correct in interpretation of the world and/ not in this verse. One needs to examine the text to understand who is seen in charge in the world as far as Creator and Lord. Then realize there is another force in the world in opposition to God and is often considered separated from God in the since of disobedience, and evil intent by obeying devil, or another instead of God. Like Adam listening to his wife Eve. The world in John chapter 1 knew not the light/God/the word. Meaning possible option to God and is option to God until change happens.

God will always allow evil to go so far before he stops it. Tower of Babel and Noah ark is small proof of what God of light is capable of doing once becoming angry. Who is in charge? God is. I heard so many false doctrines in my time, that declares option, it bothers me. It is obvious that God has authority over his creation including man which is overlooked in some places. Yet despite it all, God so loved the world, believers and non believers. However God hid his light in the believers heart, for the believer to allow it to shine forth to the darken world, so the world in darkness might receive the truth about his word and his love. Receive the truth the Messiah has come. In verse 7 of 2 Corinthians 4 it says that his treasure are in earthen vessels. Adam was made of dust. We are from the dust of the earth, and yet, we take on a life form not of dust. Just like ice cube is made of water and once melted it is water again, so it is with man made from dust return to dust. Yet we are clear as glass to God, and more like ice cube to man. Part of the ice cube very clear and the other part fuzzy in the middle, can't see if comething covering the cloudy part of the cube. However the clear part is the light of God surrounding us in the cube of ice.

Now then we are earthen vessels in verse 7 in today's Continual scripture study. John, is earthen vessel with the light of God within him from birth but he is not God or Jesus, and his purpose was to share the light of God and of Christ coming into the world, to prepare them for the first coming of the Messiah(John 1:15). John a believer and a light to the world like small candle light that shines the hope that is Jesus. Our faith in Christ gives us eternal life, because God loved us and sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. He sent his Son first as his spoken word to the heart of the believer, then fullfilled his word with the coming of Christ in the flesh and will fullfill his word with the resurrection, and will fullfill his word again when Christ returns.

Those that do not believe have us to minister to them. I always say if you can help someone try to do just that. Try to love if you can, and forgive. Try to learn patience and hope. Ask Jesus to help you share his light, to those that need his light. That we be the light in the darkness so they can see Christ light. God is surrounding even the sinners on earth, they just do not know it. Pray that as God sends his ministers forth to share his love, the light of God will shine bright in their life.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for for the light of your word, that we are to share who you are, when we can see your love, your compassion and forgiveness, hope for all mankind, In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 2 Corinthians 4:1-7 KJV
1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
