Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Exodus 5:1-23 KJV
1 And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.
2 And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.
3 And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days' journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.
4 And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works? get you unto your burdens.
5 And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye make them rest from their burdens.
6 And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,
7 Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves.
8 And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.
9 Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.
10 And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spake to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw.
11 Go ye, get you straw where ye can find it: yet not ought of your work shall be diminished.
12 So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw.
13 And the taskmasters hasted them, saying, Fulfil your works, your daily tasks, as when there was straw.
14 And the officers of the children of Israel, which Pharaoh's taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task in making brick both yesterday and to day, as heretofore?
15 Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants?
16 There is no straw given unto thy servants, and they say to us, Make brick: and, behold, thy servants are beaten; but the fault is in thine own people.
17 But he said, Ye are idle, ye are idle: therefore ye say, Let us go and do sacrifice to the LORD.
18 Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of bricks.
19 And the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were in evil case, after it was said, Ye shall not minish ought from your bricks of your daily task.
20 And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh: 21 And they said unto them, The LORD look upon you, and judge; because ye have made our savour to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us.
22 And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou so evil entreated this people? why is it that thou hast sent me?
23 For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done evil to this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all.

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free and not entangles agin with the yoke of bondage. If you trying to get rid of bondage, you might think about the story of Hebrew people being in captive by Pharaoh and everytime Moses requested for the people to Pharaoh to let them go just once into the wilderness to worship God that Pharaoh refused, and made the people work just has hard. Part of leaving bondage as realizing more stress, more work, more trouble is going to come before you can leave the hardship the devil wants to entrap you with. In the process the Hebrew people had to do more work, impossible work load in the same amount of time they were doing it before with more of a burden. Pharaoh over worked them because he thought they were standing around wanting to on a trip to worship God, when he could be worshipping him and working for him.

Pharaoh loves money and anything that will make him richer, and if it means putting more work on the people because they had to much free time, he would increase the load and burden they had. Devil is like that in life. If he thinks he can control you by providing people in your pathway to disturb you, wreck what you trying to do for God, or even become a thorn, he going to put temptation, stumbing stones, and dig a hole for you to fall into and in your pathway. If he can break wreck your method of getting a task done he will do it. So it takes twice as long. In todays world the devil would like to destory the computers, make everyone go back to paperwork and make us all go back to the stoneage, so Christians can not look around to see what going on in the rest of the world and the United States of America. The tool he uses himself he like to destroy because it interfers with his method of destroying lives. Computers are said to make life easier and it does in many ways, but what it also does is cause problems when the power goes out, the internet goes down, or the person is sick that knows how to fix all the problems that the computer is causing for the substitute in the office. The devil wants to interfer. Pharaoh was big on causing trouble for those who worked for him.

Sometimes we have to go through the heavy burden Satan lays on us for God to have victory. The man named Job was burden literally by the Devil. Devil thought Job would turn from God if he took all Job had from him, only leaving a wife and Job's body with sores from a disease that would plague him, tell God restores him. Devil did the same to the children of Israel in the land of Egypt. Devil made them suffer, knowing his time was short, for God would kill Egypts first born, just like the Pharaoh had killed Hebrew babies and then God would kill Pharaoh when he went to cross the red sea. The Red Sea was the bridge for the Hebrew people but the red sea was death to Pharaoh, because the water/word of God flowed over top of him.

Time of Baby Jesus, Woman of Ramoth would suffer for the birth of Jesus by the lost of their babies from new born to 2 years of age, because King Herod wanted to kill the new king that was born. The woman of Ramoth rejoiced of the news of the new king being born. The suffering at the enemies hand, is a burden, but it is not the end of joy or faith we have in God. We might for a short time have to deal with what the devil is dishing out, but God is going to destroy him. He going to do it in front of witnesses, that will know the Lord won the battle for his people. The battle is the Lord's if we will allow him to have control of the battle. Moses and Aaron would obey God even at the heat of battle with the enemy, despite the fact the people complained and grew angry and the situation their request was making for the Hebrew people. Even Moses complained about the trouble the Lord was causing his children. Yet the trouble did not come from God it came from Pharaoh, a physical devil or evil man. Godly leader would of seen the problems it was causing and rushed in to try and help the Hebrew people if they been king of Egypt. However Pharaoh trusted not in God, only card about money.

Job trusted in God, but he had three friends that did not help him. In other words they wanted to blame Job for his trouble. All along God was allowing Satan to test him. Is Satan testing you with your work load, with your trouble, and with your ability to handle the situation? Trust in the Lord in the days of trouble and he will give you liberty. Liberty given to the Hebrew people was a trip into the wilderness to learn about the God of victory and to establish a right relationship with God. It was not an easy road. Yet it was a learning journey about the God they desired to serve. God did call them his people.

Jesus went to the cross paying a price the devil tried to yoke God's child with called sin. God established a salvation plan for his children despite the fact sin cause division between us and God. God would establish his word, that man would face death, but he did not say that man could not rise again. With that Christ would face death to rise again. His punishment not because of disobedience to God, but his disobedience to man. Adam and Eve disobeyed God by their own free will. A will that when we choose God, we can will obey him even if it cost us as it did Christ. Devil does want to entrap the believers, but God is setting us free through faith in Christ Jesus. No more need for sacrifice on the altar, for Christ as set us free from the yoke of the law. Doing God's will obeying God. Taking our cross and loving God and others. Christ death set the captives free, and he was raised back up for a testimony for you and I, of God's love for us, that we to can have eternal life, through faith in His Son.

Dear Heavenly Father, the yoke of the enemy shackles us, but you want to break those chains in our life. You want to break those chain the devil is trying to entrap us with, only to know his time is short. Break those chains, and give us liberty. In Jesus name, Amen.
