Do You Have Faith? 12/03/2020
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisGenesis 8:14-22; 9:1-17 KJV
14 And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried.
15 And God spake unto Noah, saying,
16 Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons' wives with thee.
17 Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.
18 And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him:
19 Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark.
20 And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
9:1-17 KJV
1 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.
2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.
3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
5 And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.
6 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
7 And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.
8 And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,
9 And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;
10 And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.
11 And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.
12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
17 And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.
The easiest thing to come up with is a story to explain something unknown or never seen. How do we know what is written about Noah even from God? The atheist mind will try and disbelief in a simple story of faith. Faith is one of those thing you either believe or you do not. It is one things that you take on facts established. We know the mountain the ark land on is the tallest in the world. Flood covered the entire earth, how then did ark get to the top of Mount Ararate. It should did not just fly, it float to dry land, the only dry land upon the earth. Once out Noah build an altar to the Lord. He worshipped God and God spoke to Noah and made a covenant with him, that he would never destroy the earth again by flood. Not only would he not destroy the whole earth by flood but he would give a sign that would be for all people to remember this covenant called a rainbow. Truth this story does sound like good mythology until you began to weight the evidence. Fact the entire earth as not seen that much water again, though we had floods in different parts of the earth. There some things must be taken on faith.
When I think of God's promises it has to be proveable, at least in my life time and hope is future generation will have that reality has well. No it must be fact. How can you establish things God promises as a fact, when the only thing we have evidence seen and the evidence is old. Not examined through the telescopic and microscopic lens of today's world. Faith is something deeper. Somethings that must be waited on. Christmas story is a story that was a promise that took many centuries before it occured, yet man believed and past the prophecies on why because God always established evidence through his word to those of faith. For hundred years Noah prophesied of the need of the ark, because he was building it under instruction of God. It takes faith to believe God a huge storm is coming. I like to know what had given Noah the faith to built the ark by the hearing of God's voice. What had occurred prior to the ark. We truly do not have the answer of what occurred in over 900 years of his life time. But we know that God spoke and he believed and the evidence came when the flood happened and he could not open the door because God had sealed it. Now if God told you that rainbow was a covenant of protection between you and Him and he would not send a flood again, would you not believe him and retell the story.
I heard a prophecy the other day and I truly believe several i heard was probably false prophesies. Main reason for one it was rehearsed as a play. The second one would be easy for someone to manifest through their own actions or someone following these prophecies to create the event. This is the scary truth. Where are we and what is prophecy. Noah word from God could not be duplicated by man, no matter how many water hoses, or water reproduction centers built could the entire earth be ever covered agained. No man could not reproduce water in that volume. Though if it was possible to create water in huge volumes the National forestry department would like that information. Fact is water can be made by to elements or gases called oxygen and hydrogen, but it take alot of both to do it.
The first fact is the flood and the enability of man reproducing the flood and the second is a rainbow that man can not reproduce but with science study there is a reason it appears. Yet God gives man explanation for it. Two facts one proveable by event of God speaking to Noah and the second a little hazy, no, why should we disbelieve that God talked to Noah the second time. There is no reason to disbelieve with the first event.
This being the Christmas season we looking to celebrate the promise of Christ birth. Yet how do we prove the birth of Jesus was really prophecied but examining events, examining the story from prophecy, what can be duplicated by man what can not. What part of the promise needs faith and what part of the promise needs evidence and what part of the promise prophecy occurred? If we want hope we need to based on the evidence not seen and the evidence that did appear and the vision of what is said to come made believable.
If someone prophecied to you what are they basing their prophecy on. Everytime i see someone tell a dream and say God spoke to them, I truly want to know what evidence is in their life that God spoke. Now we know God is not respector to people when he speaks to people. For he spoke to the king in scripture to protect Sarah when Abraham told a half truth. We know that God spoke to Balaam a false prophet to fullfill his will, despite what Balaam wanted to do. We know God spoke to Nebuchadnezzar not in words but writtings on the wall and unexplained visions that need interpreter. Isaiah a prophet prophesied destruction with hope as most of the Old Testament prophets, but what made their prophesy unreal to the point that when Christ was born that caused these prophesy to be ignored. The fact God harden the heart of the Jewish people to the prophecy of world's Savior Jesus Christ. Isaiah and the other prophets are examined and even the gentiles knew it was true, even prophecies against Israel, because of the sin in the land of Israel. As Israel blindness to the prophecy of destruction came, the prophecy of their return is held to by Israel and examined. Yet as they constructed the temple the gentiles were not allowed in and God frowned on this, only to then send his Son who spoke to Jews and Gentiles alike.
It is the prior prophecy the prophet that will not witness the event that records it has God spoke, we must examine old prophecy to the new prophecy. This Prophet spoke to the Lord. Examine dates and times and evidence that came. God is going to reveal man's inability to reproduce certain events spoken. Just like the time of Pharoah and Egypt as God's wrath pour out through prophesy of plagues. God does prophecy not only destruction but also blessings. Jesus coming was a blessing from the Lord.
I won't go through all the prophesy probably, but it easier to start with a simple story about Noah concerning evidence then perhaps the story of Pharaoh. We be there a month if I did that again. Okay. Point is we examine facts, faith, and hope this season. Love, life and hope to come is all fruit of this month's study of the Christmas story.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to remember your word is precious and true. May those who hear your word and obey, not only watch for it coming, but believer are never without faith or hope. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: Hebrews 11:1-7 KJV
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
