Every Sunday A Psalms: The Blessings Of Growth
12/13/2015

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Psalms 65:1-13
(1) To the chief Musician, A Psalm and Song of David. Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed.
(2) O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.
(3) Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.
(4) Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.
(5) By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea:
(6) Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains; being girded with power:
(7) Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people.
(8) They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.
(9) Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it.
(10) Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: thou settlest the furrows thereof: thou makest it soft with showers: thou blessest the springing thereof.
(11) Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness.
(12) They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness: and the little hills rejoice on every side.
(13) The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing.

No one grasp the full nature of the Holiness of God. To understand his superiority is to be in fear of an angry God or perhaps and loving God if you understand his grace for his creation and His people. God’s judgment come and goes, but his love and his supply for his people is without end. To fall into the hands of angry God is not to have supply of God’s grain. Not grain of the field of the earth but fields of God. If one stands in the balcony or on the platform of a huge church they see the crowd in the masses. The see the production of sheep in the house of God.

The storms teach us about God’s wrath and yet storm might not be because of wrath of God in your life but a time of testing in your life. The metaphor of plentiful of grain or corn in the field only shows the abundance of feed for the sheep in the field and not a time of drought. Jesus told Peter in the last chapter of John to feed the sheep. Jesus own coming brought about an abundance of grain for the field of workers. Yet without a purging of sin the food for growth is choked out by the weeds in life. Yet God desires to purge those thistles and thorns from us, To provide pasture of food and bounty. He takes a plants good corn or seed to produce a bountiful field for his sheep to graze on and to store for hard time.

When one desire to dwell in God’s house there is an abundance of food in which to eat. There is always the time of drought in a person life where the food of God just does not seem plentiful. Yet there is time of rain on what God has planted to cause it to grow and produce what is needed for the sheep. When ther abundance of the word there is going to be abundance of sheep. In times of drought where the word of God seems lacking there is going to be not only a purging but a time when the pews are empty in God’s house. If you starve the sheep of God, then they will go looking for food. Starve them to long and the doors of a church will close. If you feed the sheep of God’s pasture you will have growth.

Yet what happens if the famine not by the minister doing but of God. Then the purging of flock is not because of a lack of knowledge, but by judgment and page turning of God. Christ came to bring the lost sheep of Israel home to the pasture land of milk and honey. He came to lead the people back to God. To bring understanding of who God is and demonstrate his authority to produce. How many knees on the day of judgment when Christ returns do you think will bow. Some willingly and other not so willingly to give up their control seat, yet knowing they just wreck by not believing in Jesus.

The coming of Jesus brought an abundance of sheep to him. The blessings of manna is the blessings of a crop. Image in the wilderness when food was supplied how it effect their belief. How the victory over some battles caused a stir when it was won by not normal means. The Shunammite woman found help in time of famine by the miracle of an abundance of oil and flour to make cakes for her friends and the prophet Elisha. Her son no longer starving, but the provision came from the Lord. God provision not man’s provision of food will keep his sheep feed.

Dear Heavenly Father trusting in your goodness and mercy to feed the flock of your people. Let those who feed and water be supplied with the power of your Spirit to feed your sheep once more. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
