The Lord Our Righteous

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Jeremiah 23:3-6 KJV
(3) And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.
(4) And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD.
(5) Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.
(6) In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

I think the image of David as a shepherd is often seen as a boy going against Goliath only points out the lack of knowledge of his brethren of his skills in the field. His king fearing for David that he be killed going against Goliathe, his own brothers think he just a kid. Yet David had slayed lions and bears with his bare hands. Defending the sheep at all cost. David ability to fight only goes to show the ability of the shepherds in the field of ministry to go against the devil and the enemy. Some falling because of fear, or age, not anything to do with their skills. More in line with trusting God with each step they take.

When Jesus came he trained his people to minister, to teach and to go against the religious leaders of legalism, but not the government. He talked to lawyers and soldiers, but he did not rebuke them the same way he rebuke the religious harlots of his day. The king coming was more then just a shepherd but a judge that Israel looked for. Someone that would gather the people home and instill the law of God not just in the heart but in their country.

The question of Islam desiring their own land their own laws comes to mind. It is the very thing in question in our world of Judeo/christian communities. Where does God’s law stop and the world law begin. Where does faith out rule country you are in. Jesus taught to bow to the leaders of the land. Yet this controversy exist in culture of major religious fractions. Many will to die for faith never thinking twice. To die as a martyr is not he same as killing others because of faith. Only in issue of worship of Baal and any other religion where children were sacrifice was only destroyed. Baal worshippers cut themselves and danced around their altars. The people who stood for the golden calf soon found their life on the chopping block against an army of God. Yet other groups like Rahab the harlot was left alone and saved from slaughter because she believed the stories of God and rescued the spies.

Sometimes God’s word makes little sense to unbeliever when it comes to who lived and who did not. Why war was waged and sometimes not. Some battles fought for land that was not their originally, and others wars fought for land that was their originally. Some wars political and some wars of God. The battles of God were seldom won by normal weaponry. For example A boy with slingshot, Israelites singing into battle, and Gideons battle with trumpets, and pitchers, just to name a few. Yet it was because the enemy was coming against God’s people and God defended them.

Where does loyalty begin with a country and where does it die, it is the old adage of weapons of war for what purpose for what reason, because terror hit our streets or because our life became threaten. Yet they too claim their life style is threaten. Their extremist of religious kind that feel that have the right to infringe on your rights. If the law or those in charge are as corrupt as the religious zealots are they not just as wrong. Who is the battle or war against, but none other then the devil.

To maintain peace to fight with love to fight only in war to protect people against terrorist acts of humanity and to gamble in trade and economics. Sounds simple as the gas leaders of the world, and oil people. It is a trade good but every business owner that wants in has to fight to keep it. Microsoft has to fight for ever bit they created. Yet there always someone that wants to take what you got. Even if it has little value in the world.

Jesus is the Lord our Righteous, a king of his day not by legal law, but of the heart. He was born for the purpose to redeem and to call his people from all over the world. To gather them for his crucifixion. Let us not forget the Greeks that came to feast just wanting to see Jesus. His leadership not legal sense, yet he taught the law. Whose law, God’s law and the legal law as it applied to the law of God. Christ came and demonstrated how to live in this world and how to die as a martyr saying Father forgive them at the hands of the enemy and the law.

Our King our Righteous taught his people to live by the law, and to live by His laws. Never to fear what men might do but to fear him above all else. When Christ returns it will be to destroy the enemy. To judge the enemy and take his people home. His reality seen by unbeliever. Now having to deal with the fact those Bible people were telling the truth. That how Christ will win. Truth hurts.

Dear Heavenly Father as your Son continues by His Spirit to cut with his word the lies from the truth by his word. Help us to hold fast to your truth. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
