Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Genesis 49:8-12 KJV
(8) Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee.
(9) Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?
(10) The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
(11) Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:
(12) His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.

Shiloh is not about dog but a lion king. No I do not have my children movies mixed up this morning. However what I do have is information about Shiloh, the lawgiver and the Perfect Prince of Peace. I often wonder what they saints understood with the words they spoke. If they understood the prophetic meaning. I have to ask did they know who Shiloh would be that He would be the only begotten Son of God and that he would be crucified his garments stained with blood from the beating. The judgment in his hands to condemn and only to say Father forgive them for they know not what they do.

Shiloh another name for the Messiah. Another name for epithet of Christ. How many names did Christ have, to explain who he was will always be mystery to me. Greater the mystery is it was thousands of years from the time of Judah to the Messiah and yet. Not until the time of Christ did someone come with the sceptra of peace. Yet Christ never took any earthly thrown. Think for a moment Joseph was in power not Judah at the time Jacob would of prophesied this, but that was in Egypt. Judah was a leader in his family at the time of the famine in the promise land. He went to Egypt for food for the family and took responsibility of Benjamin’s safe return to his father, only to be bring his father to Egypt during the famine. God using Joseph as a way of keeping Israel and his family from starving. Yet the exile under peace because of their sin against Joseph.

Jacob blessed each of sons before his death, And Judah was consider to be like a lion, for he crouch down and sprung up like a lion. All things remembered by his father of Judah growing up years. Yet it was prophetic to the Messiah and to those that would hear and wonder it before the time of the Messiah. Some might say this prophesy is just words nothing more nothing less. That where people fail to see the significance of the prophetic word. The prophetic word is spoken to the heart not just oral words spoken. It like a knife cut to the soul or a piercing to the heart of the reality of these words being true for the Messiah. Piercing because the rest of what Jacob said about Judah had to do with cross about the blood shed for a heavy burden upon a donkey/ass. Was not Christ triumphal entry into Jerusalem not the way a king would enter into Jerusalem. Yet people were looking for a warrior king and not peace maker. They were looking for a leader to over throw the government not to be peaceful. Time of prophesy was at a time Judah was not in power, but leadership in his own right. A time of peace was Judah rule, but he was not Shiloh. Yet his father seen one of his ancestor afar off as future king of Israel and a peace maker not a warrior.

Do you believe prophesy based on what you think should be or the facts. Consider who Shiloh is as Messiah Jesus. See if what I point out leads you to understand the truth of who the Messiah is.

Dear Heavenly Father as we wait for the return of Shiloh may your word be lift high, knowing the truth of the prophesy hidden in scripture. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
