Series God's Blessings: The Complexity Of Promise
4/21/2015

Daily Devotions:by Christina Farris

Romans 15:8-13 KJV
(8) Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:
(9) And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name.
(10) And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people.
(11) And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud him, all ye people.
(12) And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.
(13) Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

The blessing of salvation coming not ever by the law, but by God’s grace. The covenant of Abraham, which is the covenant of circumcision, is about the covenant of faith. It not about circumcision of the flesh but of the heart. The circumcision of believing God and obeying God. Moses took Israel into the desert only for them to reject God the first time they hear his thundering voice. Yet they would not reject their leader Moses who God had sent to deliver them out of Pharaoh hand. The reception of the minister but not God.

People see minister as people kind, good, and even seemingly at rest. There messengers from God to the people. People not willing yet to speak to God on their own, or have faith to believe beyond the messenger of faith. It easy to see a messenger as a person faith and a person God speaks too, but that translation is lost if one never realizes the greatest blessing of knowing Jesus is to know one can have that relationship with God. The need for God to have his word come in the flesh, was to take the worship of the minister away. The ideology of a church belonging to a minister and God or not God in some cases. Meaning the minister takes on the role of leader in a person life as a type of mentor, yet the only mentor a person needs is Jesus. Yet to first learn about God it might come through ministers, yet it is still the Spirit of God that teaches who Jesus is.

Relying on God begins with hearing the word of God and knowing His promises are true. Without the evidence of promise the hope will never come. God by His Spirit has direct the believer to step out in faith inorder to teach others about faith. Yet until one believes one is only looking to the teacher for knowledge of God and faith and trust in His Word, His Son, Jesus Christ. Without the promise of Jesus the prophecy of old seem meaningless. The promise of the Messiah come from each generation. Yet the God that spoke to a six year old boy named Samuel, to King David when he was a shepherd boy, and all the prophets, still speaks to human soul today, either audibly, or by His Spirit. God speaks and communes with the believer. That is a blessing. Yet our sin being the stumbling block that needs changing is only done through the new covenant of faith through Christ Jesus, of the sin covered by the promise of God’s word that one man must die for our sins, Hope of salvation received with faith in Christ Jesus. Giving us the hope of salvation. The hope of God’s Word being true.

To walk in the blessed hope of salvation the new covenant through Christ Jesus. A covenant with the markers of faith in God’s eternal salvation plan. God never intended for us to follow the minister as a god, but only to have the minister teach the people who He is, so that people could come to the saving grace through faith. That they to can learn to commune with God, and the relationship begins with faith as small as a mustard seed, that can bring one to repentance, knowing we are not God but our imperfect causes to fall short and in need of salvation, because of one’s sin.

Dear Heavenly Father may the hope of eternity come to the believer knowing Christ paid the price for sin. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
