Series God's Blessings: Every Sunday A Psalms: Finding God To Be
4/19/2015

Daily Devotions:by Christina Farris

Psalms 31:1-24 KJV
(1) To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.
(2) Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me.
(3) For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.
(4) Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength.
(5) Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.
(6) I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD.
(7) I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities;
(8) And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room.
(9) Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly.
(10) For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed.
(11) I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.
(12) I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.
(13) For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.
(14) But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God.
(15) My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.
(16) Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies' sake.
(17) Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.
(18) Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
(19) Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!
(20) Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.
(21) Blessed be the LORD: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.
(22) For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.
(23) O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.
(24) Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.

Every Sunday we have been working on a Psalms for the past 31 weeks. Each week as been meet with a new challenge and each challenge a little harder then the next. It is almost like the dance of marriage to keep it alive you have to put forth effort, to allow it to go would be to quit and divorce in this case the book of Psalms. Yet I can not and I will meet my challenge once more with the thought of the blessings of God with God‘s help. David found many blessings over the years, though upon looking at this Psalms the word blessing itself is only used once. David calls God his Rock, His Fortress, His Strength, His Redeemer, His Mercy, His God, He is preserver of the faithful and rewarder of the proud doer. The blessings of God comes in the form of who God truly is to the believer.

David found hope in who God was and is to him. He found God to be a rock, and protector through out his days whether he was tending the sheep of the pasture or God’s sheep in his kingdom. Whether the enemy was a bear or a lion or a military Giant or tribe. The blessing of protection is not to be taken lightly. It like God’s protection of one’s health whether sick or whole, the body surviving over the attack of illness. In war it over the attack of the enemy. The survivor victory of knowing the swamp he came through, or the land mine field where he should of died, yet lived to tell the story. The soldier knows the protection of God but knows the hour of his friend is called to be with the Lord. How you will die is up to God, our job is just to keep recognizing his blessing of protection until the end.

God preserved David life on more then one occasion , and yet David found hope by following after God and doing whatever God required of him. He found prosperity by doing the will of God. He found God’s shelter in life by doing the will of God. He found the blessings of God in who He is as His God. Those same blessings David found are the same blessings for you and I throughout our life time. It not about wealth or prosperity but the hope only God can bring in every situation knowing He is ultimately in control. Where ever you are in life whether facing another storm or just going up the hill in victory to the top of mountaintop with rejoicing, one can face tomorrow because one can know God is real and real down deep in your soul when one puts their trust in Jesus to be their Lord and Savior of one’s life. There hope in faith in Christ. There is hope knowing He lives, that He did not stay in the tomb. There is a tomorrow and a place tomorrow never ends. Yet we are in this world, the hope for deliverance must remains in God who will help in times of need, and be there in times of joy and sorrow, if one wants to receive the blessings of God.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank for your blessings, of protection, hope, mercy, truth that one can know you are the rock not only to the world but in one’s own life, if one will trust in your as God and deliver of those who diligently seek you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
