Matthew 5:1-12 KJV
(1) And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
(2) And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
(3) Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
(4) Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
(5) Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
(6) Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
(7) Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
(8) Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
(9) Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
(10) Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
(11) Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
(12) Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

The blessings of God is often only thought of in regards to faith. Jesus taught the blessings were found in a person’s attitude, If I told you this morning I had a attitude of a grizzly bear, you perhaps would figure I either did not get out on the right side of the bed, or something in this world had changed by peaceful rest into rage, whether it be the car that ran the traffic light or that car that cut me off on my way into town. Yet you might assume as well that the cat decided to take a chunk out of my leg, instead of rubbing contently because he wanted to play, and had not learn to be aggressive. Yet no matter the reason for the poor attitude this morning, I have to ask what is attitude, but emotion and response to the things around us, that others can see. A person can not see a facial expression without a camera or physically being present with eyes that can behold the facial expression of a person. Attitude defines a person, more readily. To put on a smile even when one is sad, only defines that person as a smiling person, yet the covering of that smile is the true attitude. In the “super Christian” the attitude is yea and amen, not a negative attitude unless it has to do with evil or sin. That upbeat personality of a Christian often can be irritating to the world. The worlds sees one having a rough day only to see a smile. Is it a camouflage or is it a representation of the hope of a believer.

No one is happy all the time, but the attitude of a “super Christian” is the hope of tomorrow not the trial they are going through. They see the future that lays ahead and not the one that is current or left behind if going through a valley in life.

Yet has I think on Christ sermon concerning the Beatitudes, I am taken back by the thought Christ is talking not just about spiritual heaven but a physical earthly godly kingdom. There were times of Israel history where things were at peace. Where things were at rest, and the neighbors no longer war with Israel. That time was the time of David, when the kingdom was brought through many battles, only to finally come to a place of rest. Some might say it was those golden years of David that one can see the beatitudes being a part of the attitude of poor in spirit, and the time of the mourning. Yet the time of inheriting the earth was definitely his as far as a time of rest for the kingdom.

The time of perfect peace in the world around us, is the stabilizing of the world when goodness reigns over evil. Evil being knocked down or no longer in existence. The kingdom of God is seen in David empire, seen in the empire of several kings, though evil still tormented their kingdom. When one thinks of the worlds economy and even my own nation economy, things are more peaceful when things are leveled out then when there is a rising or falling in the market world. When gas prices are lower long enough for the human to finally not feel the sting on one’s budget, or grocery prices are lower to make a person feel things in the world must be a little better. These little things changes the attitude of the nation. One might say going through higher prices when the prices drop one appreciates it a little more.

The kingdom of God is a place of rest. A place of comfort and not mourning, a place peace and not war. A place of good attitude place of humbleness/gratefulness. God’s kingdom is only inherit by God’s people not evil. Inherited by those people who’s attitude has been changed by the hand of God. I watched a young girl’s attitude change when she received Christ. Her attitude before was not of kindness, or pleasant, but evil and hateful, yet when Christ got a hold of her, her attitude changed. She knew her attitude was not good, and she learned that with forgiveness through grace and not chastisement, gave her a new leash on life.

When the believer gets to heaven so many things concerning attitude and hope is going to change, for the reality of the hope will have been revealed. The healing of the destruction of evil, will be a life changing experience. We will all be given a clean slate by Christ healing in our life. Healing first comes with salvation through Jesus Christ in this world we live in, but the complete healing comes with the fruit of the trees in God’s kingdom for the nations and for us as individuals. Just like the time of David, there was war, but in the end was those happy golden days and not just destruction. Sin caused war in David’s spirit and kingdom. Yet hope of peace through repentance came forgiveness. The humble Spirit comes to all that repent. The understanding of what Christ has done by paying the price for our sin. Meekness is something that comes with time and not always all at once. The more the human spirit learns about what Christ really delivered them from, the more one reaches up toward God in humbleness, bowing to the throne of God.

Dear Heavenly Father brings us to a place of rest, with an attitude of humbleness before your throne as we walk this earth, waiting for the completely healing from the destruction of evil has on your heart and soul. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
