2 Kings 20:1-21 KJV
(1) In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.
(2) Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying,
(3) I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
(4) And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
(5) Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.
(6) And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.
(7) And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.
(8) And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the LORD the third day?
(9) And Isaiah said, This sign shalt thou have of the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees?
(10) And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees.
(11) And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz.
(12) At that time Berodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah: for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.
(13) And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and shewed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.
(14) Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon.
(15) And he said, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All the things that are in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.
(16) And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD.
(17) Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
(18) And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
(19) Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. And he said, Is it not good, if peace and truth be in my days?
(20) And the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made a pool, and a conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
(21) And Hezekiah slept with his fathers: and Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.

Last two days I spent time in the hospital. That meant my work here did not get done. That can be a blessings and it can be added stress to me. However it means, God had other plans for other people that day that enjoy my writing style. That is cool as well. God’s plan for you might not be the same as mine, but what is guaranteed is something are for both of us. God’s plan for eternity is designed for every one of us. God’s revelation is not just for a minister or even a king, but for all of God‘s children. Ministers and kings were often public figures that the whole area witnessed their life. I have to wonder is this the life style that many would really want. Somewhere there needs to be a separation of private and public. Yet the drama of many public figures are often because of curiosities because of their popularity. When will God get the popularity He deserves. When people are genuinely curious of the ways of God not from just history, but applied to their life today. History speaks of blessings and curses as if the prophetic voice of the prophet was a God. Yet the prophet was only the messenger and their uncanny ability to just show up is like a comic in Shakespearean play. Yet in all reality God’s Word is for the hearer and doer that will obey.

Hezekiah had a problem of relying on his past relationship with God and not relying on God for his spirituality, or work as overseer of God’s people for the current moment. Hezekiah was instead a king that found himself cursed and fixing to die according to the word given to the Prophet Isaiah, only to repent and remind God of his faithfulness in his younger years. The Prophet returned to tell Hezekiah God would allow him to worship Him again and that his life would be spared. A sign was also given to Hezekiah that was not naturally, but supernaturally possible. Boils that caused the king to reflect on God for a moment. Was not enough to keep him in check when visitors came from afar.

What was Hezekiah thinking when he showed the enemy all the treasurers in his kingdom and in the house of the Lord. Had the enemy concern for Hezekiah health really soften the king to the point that he put down His guard, in remembering to protect His kingdom and the knowledge of wealth that was there. God used Isaiah to call on Hezekiah error, Hezekiah only response was will it effect his time of rule. God’s grace might not be destruction for today because of someone being a worshipper of God, which might be consider a blessing, but if you care about the next generation it is a curse.

Hezekiah concern was only how would it effect him. He care not for the consequence how his actions might effect others. If we ever thought about how our responses effect others we might never leave the house. Yet if one walks by the Spirit of God one will fulfill the will of God. The king in his error only allowed the time of which the enemy would arise. The warning of God to Israel for not obeying Him would come to pass. The consequences of sin was for God to have the enemy in his back pocket, ready to unleashed on people of disobedience. Yet to every generation that protection of God would be on His people that obeyed Him. The kingdom of Israel at the time of exile was in disobedience to God.

God’s blessing and protection is for those who would agree to serve Him. Yet God’s protection is only promised to children of faith. God’s even blesses us in our mistakes, because He is a safeguard of protection to those who generally love and serve God. Christ is our advocator before God, If God’s children will call out in regards to His promises, God chooses to follow His Word in regards to His people. His mercy according to His word. Even when we get off track. Hezekiah got off track when He showed that wealth, but He found mercy and grace of God because He was a child of the king. A believer of God’s word. If nothing but the prophetic truth the Hezekiah feared when asking would it effect His generation. God’s grace to His follower Hezekiah.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for your blessings even in our human error, of your mercy and grace. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
