Daily Devotions:by Christina Farris

Genesis 9:1-25 KJV
(1) And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.
(2) And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.
(3) Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
(4) But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
(5) And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.
(6) Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
(7) And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.
(8) And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,
(9) And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;
(10) And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.
(11) And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.
(12) And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
(13) I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
(14) And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
(15) And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
(16) And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
(17) And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.
(18) And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.
(19) These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.
(20) And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:
(21) And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.
(22) And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.
(23) And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.
(24) And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.
(25) And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.

The knowledge of rules playing any sport is beneficial to striving to win the game. Of course penalties in a game is a cost of points, but without that knowledge that loss of points would seem unfair. The strategy of any game to have the score increase is only lost to those trying to throw the game to cause one’s team to loose. The devil is like the one throwing the game, caring not how many penalties or miss goals there are. Yet the knowledge of the game will only help get rid of the devil. The lack of knowledge and belief in those rules only allows the devil to take advantage. The game of life seems simple. Stay away from the enemy and remain with friends. Then there is no converts if you never talk to enemy. Yet the enemy has to want change for change to occur. It can only occur with understanding of the rules.

The first rule is understanding God blesses man and all generations that follow Him. The second rule is one has to believe God. Third rule is one has to obey God. Without all three of these rules God’s covenant is nil and void, even if it is only in God’s timing when destruction of breaking rule one through three occurs. Yet God’s blessing flows to all mankind, until the day of judgment. Noah found grace in God’s eyes. Yet when God set the rules for Noah and His Son, one rule was not to kill. The right of life was up to God, because He made man in His image, they did not. God gave man animals to kill and eat and animals to be in fear of man. Most will agree every animal has to learn human’s are not going to hurt them, for them to ever live in the same environment or home as man. The fear of animals of man is like our fear of God.

God’s blessings came with being fruitful or procreation. God’s blessings came with responsibilities, God’s blessings came with a sign that He would not destroy the earth with a global flood again. That God would not destroy all humans. Who was Noah but a man of righteousness, yet though he was blessed he would get drunk. Perhaps because with this blessings still was great sorrow of loss of a few friends and maybe other family members. The loss of human kinship among the heathens. The cost of drunkenness was his children had knowledge of his humanity. The publication of that knowledge cause Noah to curse one of his sons. God’s curses only come with the breaking of rules. Did Noah children know the rules of their father. No doubt they did. Canaan Instead of covering his father’s sin, revealed it to his brothers who cover their father.

Unless you play by the rules of God and the rules of man, you will find yourself out of the game of life or not living to your full potential. Success of Cain, Abel brother, only had to do with Him following his own rules, not God’s. He became his own master, with no hope, beyond this world. The slaying of his brother was not a rule beyond God’s warning. God made it clear not to kill, with Noah and his sons. Perhaps this is why Noah only cursed Canaan. One has more friends if they cover sin of another. The line drawn if it harmful to someone other then oneself. Noah sin only caused Canaan to see his humanity, it had not harmed anyone at this time. Yet, not to get drunk was not a rule yet, understood by man.

Rules are meant to be added too and taken away if they is no current need of them. God knew what man was capable of, because He made them. Yet man was still learning what he was capable of, as well as learning how to follow God’s rules. The blessings flowing even to the heathens. Yet no protection was given to the unbeliever. The covenant made because of Christ coming, came with the covenant of belief and faith in Jesus. Without this faith there is no hope of eternal life. That was not only the covenant but the promise. Where are you in obeying God’s rules with the issue of faith. Ask God to help your unbelief and obedience to His Spirit.

Dear Heavenly Father help our unbelief as well as learning to obey your Spirit with your mercy and grace through Christ Jesus our Lord. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
