Every Sunday A Psalms: The Hope And Trust Of God's People

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Psalms 135:1-21 KJV
(1) Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the name of the LORD; praise him, O ye servants of the LORD.
(2) Ye that stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God,
(3) Praise the LORD; for the LORD is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant.
(4) For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure.
(5) For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.
(6) Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.
(7) He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries.
(8) Who smote the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and beast.
(9) Who sent tokens and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants.
(10) Who smote great nations, and slew mighty kings;
(11) Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan:
(12) And gave their land for an heritage, an heritage unto Israel his people.
(13) Thy name, O LORD, endureth for ever; and thy memorial, O LORD, throughout all generations.
(14) For the LORD will judge his people, and he will repent himself concerning his servants.
(15) The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
(16) They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;
(17) They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths.
(18) They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them.
(19) Bless the LORD, O house of Israel: bless the LORD, O house of Aaron:
(20) Bless the LORD, O house of Levi: ye that fear the LORD, bless the LORD.
(21) Blessed be the LORD out of Zion, which dwelleth at Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.

The blessed people of God has always been and always will be those that follow after Him. Israel was not a people though called by Godís name, that were always in obedience to God. In fact their journey to the Promise Land was one to learn about trusting in the God of their ancestors. How far had Israel gone from their God at the time of Moses is unclear, but there definitely was promise of trusting in the God of Israel even with victory over Pharaoh with the death of his first born. It occurred to me that some of Israel would of believe God did these things concerning the plague, because of the ability to reproduce some of these things themselves. The devil always will try to destroy the belief of Godís people and no doubt as Israel went forth to the promise land, the devil did his best to disprove the miracle signs.

One thing is for sure is that devil can duplicate many things but not the answer to a silent prayer. When Israel fail to trust in God the devil deception was great, but not unbeatable by the miracles of God. The idols made of human hands often representing a larger then life hero of the day. Their eyes unseeing and their ears un hearing and the mouth speaks not again. Yet when one thinks for a moment the idol speaks in silence those who seek not a living God of Heaven who can bless them and provide for them. The God of scripture had power to turn the enemy towards him. The power to defeat the enemy and win. The God of Bible still has the key of victory His name is Jesus and when Jesus returns the enemy will be utterly defeated. God showed His power through the resurrection over 2000 years ago, when Christ returns the defeat will be finished. The devil only has a short time left to run rapid in the streets of our world. Deceiving betraying the people of this world.

Israel was a bless nation, because they served God even when some of their people did not. God desires us to desire him more then the worldly lust of our time. To desire to worship and honor him more then the world. Israel when they served God turned from idols of their ancestors as well the heathen lands around them. When God demonstrated his power to overcome among the people they would rise blessed by the Lord from repented knees of sin. Today Christians live on this side of the cross knowing Godís word came to pass and will again in the form of Christ return.

Over 3000 Jews in Jerusalem received Christ on the day of Pentecost, believing the word of Peter as He quoted Joel about the outpouring of Godís Spirit on the Godís people. Day of the Pentecost represents the outpouring but it did not end there it continues on today in the lives of His people. Trust today in Jesus the Son of the God of miracles, In the God who raise Jesus up to live again.

Dear Heavenly Father give us strength to rise up daily in faith knowing the devil will try every form of trickery against the world even through wooden and stone idols to deceive. That no weapon formed against your servants will prevail. Thank you for blessing your children. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: Isaiah 54:15-17 KJV
(15) Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.
(16) Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.
(17) No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
