Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris
Can you mend a vessel of clay. Shatter is the clay of humanity through out the world. Cracked and scarred by this old world we live in. Precious treasures of clay mended with glue to hold together for one more dinner, or to hold precious flowers or treasures found in our world. I can remember the shatter of a plate and the wonderment of seeing pieces lying about big enough to be glued together. Yet still fragments of tiny pea size grains of clay laid there as well. The question is can it be glued back and the answer is not without the missing pieces. The plate becomes a new construction never be like the original, but never the less fitted back together to be like new once more.
When Christ enters our heart to shine forth through our earthen vessels he takes the scars of this world, with the dings and dents of this world, and the broken pieces from the already dented and dings of this world and beings to remake it, into life lessons for his glory and honor. God begins a shaping and healing process in our life. Life lessons can be used to help another. Our battle wounds of years gone by only to keep another from harms way. Godís word living in our hearts shining forth to others only helps another from falling into the bottomless pit if they grab hold of Christ and allow him to heal and mend them into a new vessel.
Earthen vessel have turned to plastic vessels today. No longer pots of clay but plastic containers to store to hold treasures of this earth. Some treasures of value and some not. We grab a cardboard box or a tin can in hope to keep things we not sure if they could not be tossed. A pieces to the latest object we put together, wonder if those spare parts belonged on the object or not. The point being that vessels hold the clutter of our lives. Yet when Christ comes into our heart, he begins to clean the clutter that is held within the heart and mends us and heals us. With the healing comes the outward shine of Christ in house. Looking like a jack-o lantern maybe or oil lamp, with oil of the Lord within us shining forth by the lighted wick within us. He has thus turned us into a lantern pleasing to him to shine forth the goodness of his grace. Within his light we hide all His knowledge and wisdom with in our hearts, to be discovered not only by us but others. For God contains mysterious we can not even begin to grasp, find, or understand within his grace, and mercy. What we can understand is his power to heal our wounds and battle scars in life to make them useful window pane to shine forth the healing of our heart and our soul, so others to might grab hold of the healer of our lives.
Dear Heavenly Father heal our lives and our hearts. Mold us into vessels worth of honor for you. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
