Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Luke 12:28-37 KJV
(28) If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
(29) And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
(30) For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
(31) But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
(32) Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
(33) Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
(34) For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
(35) Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;
(36) And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
(37) Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

We all have desires and thing we would like to store up. What we desire to store is where our heart is. Freezing food is a necessity for survival. Yet who was Jesus talking to in this passage but the disciples and those who would follow and share the Gospel. Ministers can not worry about what they will eat or what they should do. A raven feed Elijah. I sorry I live in real world like you and the stories of old sometimes sound crazy and wonderful at the same time. Do minister have that much today? To accept what offer to eat. Ministers have to be practical too. If he knows how to work with his hands he must do so. Did disciples have any trouble fishing, only when Jesus was about to demonstrate his power by providing more fish then their boats would hold. Paul made tents with Aquila and Priscilla. Ministers have been known to plant gardens for extra food. Never considering the job or work that goes into freezing and canning for preservation. God does not expect us to not use our resources at times, but there are times of trusting in Godís provision and his messenger to bring food only being a raven or manna from heaven.

There is point, our heart is often set on things we need or need to provide for our own needs. Our idea of wealth is what each pay check will afford. Yet the idea of where our heart is so our treasure will be also. God speaks about trusting in our own ability alone. God speaks of His provision. Then someone will throw in what about the starving children or the people so thin in bones where is God. And I will say what are you doing to help. Is your neighbor begging bread. I was looking online the other day and several people taking out of their own pocket and fixing a meal for homeless people. One man had bought ten pizzas to share with homeless people he meet on the street. A woman made casseroles to help with homeless people in a park. Though it was not a daily provision it was enough to help someone in need.

God sends people with what they have to help another. Not strange, it is a blessing. Godís treasures is our blessing. What are godly treasures. Godly treasure start by seeking God first. The second treasure is sharing Godís gift with others, sharing Godís treasure with others. His treasure first being His Son/word and his second would be his love. Seeking God first in all things no matter what you do. Seeking God you will find him. Seeking Him for wealth will lead to disaster, seeking God to know him leads to a relationship with God. God desires for us to know and trust him. God knows what we have need of, so follow after knowing He will provide. Yet in mind this morning, I think of Jesus teaching in the wilderness for three days and then feeding the five thousand. I think of the people hungry and Moses tell God only for God to send manna and then quail. Yet Elijah having a good relationship with God had food from a raven. Be careful who you are hungry with, whether it be a crowd of people without faith, or those with faith. God may do a miracle, but God will not starve His people, he knows their needs.

When we seek God, we need to watchful. Every generation experience a great revival and yet each generation will trust in God or seek a time of his return. Nor will they seek in hope of a personal relationship with God. Yet to those that seek they will find the reward of faith, and relationship with God. They will wait for His Son return and for each revival prior to His Sonís return. Each revival the word of God comes forth in abundance and the Spirit moves people to teach and preach his word, as well as to pray for the sick and see healing in our land. As if Jesus walked among his people once more because of the abundance of healing and Gospel being preached. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit comes in a great revival. Yet without a continuing the relationship with God the power of the Holy Spirit is quenched and will not return. Do not turn away from God during a great move of his power, but know His word in order not to be deceived by the anti Christ standing to devour even strong believers in faith. Be watchful til his coming.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to seek you and your kingdom knowing you provide for your children. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

(2) And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
(3) Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
(4) And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.
(5) So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
(6) And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.
