My thoughts this morning is concerning the love of God and his blessings. It is more disturbing to me that church teach that they are the only one’s blessed by God. We all live on the same playing field called earth. We all have the ability to achieve some goaled. And I know right now if you looking at a disabled child, or mental handicap child that when he is full adult will never be able to work you say how can he/she achieve anything. The reason God allows certain problems perhaps is to teach us compassion. Those achievements are not about prosperity, but about being all God intend you to be. Often the incapable are those who bring a smile even when there should be a frown. Our enemies are people that to show compassion take a greater effort then to those that we can walk up and hug.
The enemy will one day lay down with lamb, and the enemy will rise up and fall down. The enemy does seem to be wealthier then sometimes those that are said to be God’s children. Yet God’s irony with his enemies is one day he will completely either save them or destroy them with fire. Fire of the Holy Spirit convicting their hearts of sin, or fire that eternal torment day and night that never passes away. A fire that burns without God presence.
Proverbs 17:17 says A friend liveth at all times, and a brother is born to adversary. No one wants to think of an adversary being a brother. Yet a true friend loves no matter what. A brother is someone that might not be kin. Yet is born to test who you are as a person. He is often a protector as well as a tormentor. He has compassion in battle and revenge. Enemy unless he so mentally in left field even shows kindness to his enemy. There are stories of woman being taken captive by the enemy only to have children of the enemy. To survive by compassion of the enemy, even when facing wrath at times as a piece of property easily abused and misused. There seems no justice in those situations. Yet the captive learn to love sometimes in those situations, perhaps only to survive instead of to die. Yet it happens. Those women raise their children to love, despite their own situation.
To love in trying situation the person you hate is often a battle of will verses insanity of hate. To see your enemy needing help on the side of the road and stopping and aiding that person is compassion of God. God loved Adam and Eve enough to provide fur coats in their new world. To provide food in a land of thorns and thistles. God allowed Cain to build a city despite he cast him out of his presents. God destroyed Babel by confusion, because of sin of trying to reach God by their own human design. Yet God gave prosperity to Abraham and David because they were his children. Yet he promised them the hope of eternal life beyond the grave. Hezekiah found himself in sin that would not effect him and so he left his error for future generation to come. Did he have a curse for those to come, yet the curse that was to come would only come when God allowed the enemy to overcome his people physically but not spiritually, because of the sin within the tribe. Judgment on a nation that would effect the individual. Sin of person can effect the entire nation. Yet the sin idolatry effects all generations to come. God’s protection on his people in enemy lines as well as in a time of prosperity despite the nation’s sin. A remnant that survives despite the sin of the nation.
One is taught to love the opposition by being placed in the camp of opposition. Missionaries called by God went into enemy territory of opposition to their faith and showed human love to people in need of human kindness. If nothing more then humanitarian aid and the best book of all God’s word. God’s word being a lamp to their feet to help a tribe not like themselves, but of customs that were killing a tribe or nation, by unsanitary conditions. Taught those people how to over come and be like the nations that oppressed them. Teaching them to filter water, teaching them to clean their environment for better health. Teaching them how to use their talents of necklace making and pottery for profit in a world that was different then them. Taught them how to trade fur for money to a modern society. Yet it was the gospel of love and tolerance for what these people customs and laws were different then their own. Bring people into modern century with them that would be lost culturally if they could not learn to survive. With this came the open door for the Gospel to be taught, because their love was understood by a people in need.
Any group that helps a person gains allies. Yet those allies can be disguised as friends only waiting for opportunity to their quote friend in the back. These people are in position to show love despite what else they do. Judas sought repentance despite his betrayal. Yet before that time he had followed and watch Jesus. Yet silver was worth more then friendship to Judas. Judas realized what he did he was in distress, maybe even fearful, seeking opportunity to change it. Yet he could not, because he knew not how to ask God. Not knowing we all nailed Jesus to that cross with our sin. The enemy of God grasping the love of God’s forgiveness and mercy despite our sin. Until repentance comes we are an enemy to God. We are in opposition to his plan of salvation through Christ Jesus.
Dear Heavenly Father bring us to our knees knowing you loved your enemy despite sin that nailed your Son to the tree of Calvary. Reminds us of your love, mercy and forgiveness that comes with our repentance. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
