Every Sunday A Psalms: The Voice Of The Lord
4/05/2015

Daily Devotions:by Christina Farris

Psalms 29:1-11 KJV
(1) A Psalm of David. Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
(2) Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
(3) The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters.
(4) The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
(5) The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.
(6) He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.
(7) The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire.
(8) The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.
(9) The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.
(10) The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever.
(11) The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.

John 20:16-18 KJV
(16) Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
(17) Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
(18) Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.

Mary of Magdalene, the adulteress woman that was forgiven by Jesus, ran and told the disciples his body was gone. The disciple came and saw the empty tomb and went back to the upper room. Yet Mary Magdalene stayed at the tomb crying. A man came appearing to be a gardener, was questioned by Mary in her grief. As she cried not being able to focus on the form of a man before her, He spoke her name. That voice sending shockwaves through Mary to revive her to the reality He stood before her alive. Jesus was not dead He was alive, yet he had not ascended to His Father and must before she could embrace Him. Yet just that one word her name from the Lord caused her to know her Rabboni (meaning Teacher).

The voice of the Lord is described as being powerful, majestic, could chop a tree, skip like a calf in a field, divides the flame of fire, shakes the wilderness, causes cows to give birth and make a forest bare. The voice of the Lord is clearly powerful and worthy to be praised. Yet who is the Word but Christ our Savior. The voice of God coming from above, the Savior coming from above. Lightening comes down from above. The voice of God changing the world as we know it and understand it.

Christ in all his glory divides, joins, conquers and revives the human spirit. Conquers not in the since of control and mastery, but breaks the walls down between God and man. Breaks the chains between our human inability to comprehend. The very word of God became flesh and dwelt among us, for the purpose to seek and save the lost. Mary Magdalene, forgiven of sin, found mercy and grace from the voice of Jesus. Found grace with hearing her name being spoken by Jesus. Jesus had not returned yet to God and must, before spending time with His disciples once more. He would spend forty days before going before their very eyes in a cloud to heaven. Yet Jesus voice spoke only Mary’s name, bringing her back to the reality He was risen.

The voice of Jesus the ability to bring and to draw us to himself, the voice of Jesus like fire, the voice of Jesus changing the world one person at a time, or the masses. The revival call of the minister to draw the people to the altar of repentance, without God’s Spirit would never draw a soul.

The voice of God raising Christ from the grave. The voice of God causing an earthquake and instructing the angels to roll back the stone of the grave. The empty tomb once found, brought grief and confusion for the disciples who understood not that Jesus would rise from the grave. The voice of God calling His Son home.

The voice of God moving mountains, flattens forest, causing floods, and yet brings peace to the soul. Brings contentment in times of trial, and enables the believer to walk the straight and narrow path toward God by faith. If one will listen one will hear what the voice of God still speaks to the soul. Next time you think of Jesus think of voice that creates and changes the world. His voice in action makes the world go round, and sets the soul on fire. Mary was set on fire by just the call of her name. She went back and told the disciples of seeing Jesus alive. Yet it is those forty days of time after the cross that convinces the reality of Christ resurrection. Yet it was Jesus’ voice that called Mary’s name. That brought her back to the reality of our world we live in ,that her grief was not necessary anymore for He was alive forever more. His throne for eternity would reign. God’s word reigns, God’s word changes the heart of every man, woman and child that will believe.

Dear Heavenly Father thank you for your voice, the voice that raised my Lord, The voice that caused the earth to quake, and the angels to roll the stone away. Thank you for the resurrection of Jesus, to give us eternal hope. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
