Day 18 of Our Thanksgiving Countdown 11/18/2023
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisPsalm 95:1-11 KJV
1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
3 For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also.
5 The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.
6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.
7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice,
8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.
10 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:
11 Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.
I grew up mainly in the country where fields where corn grew and cattle was raised. Some farmers still milked cows by hand for only a few cows. The creek was a place for children to play, swim and fish in. The view of the mountains some distance off had blue ridge that was beautiful any time of day. Gardens with rich red clay and some areas yellow clay grew fresh vegetables. You learned to eat what one grew. When I read some of the Psalms especially God's handwork I know what the psalmist meams when he talks about God's beautiful creation and the need or desire to praise him for it.
Living in the countryside is different then living around skyscrappers and less then 30 feet in front of you is another building. This is man's creation. Despite colors and neon signs it does not compare to God's handiwork.
We are apart of his creation. On those city streets do exist during busy day you see alot of people who were form in their mother womb by God's creation plan. We want to come in God's presence with thanksgiving, we need to thank God for his creation. Thank God for the beauty of home he placed Adam and Eve after sin in after the garden experience. To not have knowledge to know what to praise God for we can start with basics things to praise him for.
To come to be in God's presence is to recognize his existence with us as a believe by his Spirit. To know his power and his grace for every man. To sing the power if his grace.
To come in adoration before God at times might be harder, but one looks around besides at people God created. Blessing of God can be found in our journey of faith. Yet others
have not traveled far yet need to know to be thankful for forgiveness of sin. Each person beginning of faith is the beginning point of learning to have even greater faith in God. For he desires to teach each of his children about who he is and why we should be thankful. Each generation has to learn the power of God for themselves.
Dear Heavenly Father teach us to come into you presence with thanksgiving in my heart. I want to praise you. in Jesus precipus name, Amen.
