John's Account: The World Going Mad After Jesus
3/10/2023

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

John 12:12-19 KJV
12 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,
13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.
14 And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,
15 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.
16 These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.
17 The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.
18 For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.
19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.

The World is going mad after Jesus. All because of jealous the Pharisee the religious leaders were jealous. Would they had been jealous if they had understood the significance of what was fixing to happen? People seen the raising of Lazareth the brother of Mary and Martha. Lazareth had come out of the grave after four days and those in Jerusalem had around had heard about the miracles. There is another location speaking of the stories about the triumphal entry that says they question who Jesus was. What story is right John's account or the other account of people not knowing Jesus. We have to realize the distance some traveled for the time of festivals including the passover. Palm Sunday is not Sunday. It not until April 2. Easter week is not hear yet. but bunnys and chocate candy for Easter is in local stores. Part of learning is the details of Holy week and it can not be put in one week the details scripture has to share about that week. Some of the crowd would of heard of Jesus in three years of ministry of how great a man he was. How great a teacher and that he was miracle worker. Some would not have heard who he was, or that the Messiah of the Jews was here. This is important, because everyone during this time of festivals would of been searching out the truth concerning the Messiah. There would of the biggest passing of information along not only in the crowd but with family members not seen since the year or several years before. Even people not jewish showed up this time of year. It with many vendor event. Like streets loaded with all kind of things to sell in hopes to make not only a profit but to make money.

Now I got to remind you that people would of heard the story of Lazarus because it filtered through not only the Temple but was spoken by all that witnessed it. The excitement of those that knew who Jesus was would of quickly told those that knew not Jesus was someone special. Why highlight both the crowd that knew not and the crowd the knew. Jesus still had followers at this point and was still gaining followers. We need to understand this man even in the year of opposition that there was still a huge following. That Jesus was Lord and King to some of the crowd. Some understood who he was, but not in the since he came not to take the power from the children of the earth, but to give them hope of eternity. He desired to save them from their sins and bring them life abundantly. He wanted to be King and Lord of their heart, not their country at this time, beyond the rulers heart and soul. He desired by HIs Spirit to come and speak to each and every believer to help them in their daily life, to bring not only faith, love, hope, joy, but to be enabler to the believer while on this earth in their heart. To be that encourager when the world wants to knock you down.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to make you Lord and King of our heart, to trust you to be the comfort of our soul. In Jeus precious name, Amen.
