Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris1 John 1:1-10 KJV
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
John claimed to have handled the word of life, meaning seen the Word of Life in the flesh, and touch his hands. Knew the Son of God's in reality. As much as I love the gospel of John and the three letters he wrote, it has some hard truth for all believers. We have to ask are we in fellowship with God and his Son. We have to define that Jesus was not shadowing God, but is equally with God. John claim of the fact there is no darkness/evil in Christ, meaning that devil has no equality with God or his Son. The opposite of God is Satan, but with limited power. In Satan is evil with darkness that is not God. In God there is no evil. His his revenge evil, only if you are evil does it sound like evil.
Christ was ready to claim is kingom on earth because of those around him ready for his coming, only to spread the palms in the street and shout Hosanna to the King of Kings. Never understanding that his kingdom was not of this earth. His kingdom to come was beyond this earth. He would not be taking Caesar place, but would die with a crown of thorns on his head, and marks of a cruel beating on his flesh. By those stripes we are not only covered by his blood but healed by those stripes, that upon belief in Christ we are saved from our sin through Christ cross of suffering, not just the physical cross. We are raised up into endless life with Christ Jesus, it is his word that is life for us. God's word life within our hearts.
I do not doubt as John reviewed that day of Christ suffering the feelings of that day came swiftly back as a haunting of the darkness of man, and not fully seeing the darkness of evil of Satan. No it was in the darkness of man that day. Every weight of sin/darkness of man was on the shoulders of Christ. But the evilness of Satan could not be remove, only evilness of man. Satan found forgiveness not. His need for power and control still desire in his heart. With the cross and resurrection Satan is defeated, but he still running to and fro through the earth deceiving many. Satan being the father of evil, the father of things in opposition to God, with limited power. The power he can not destroy God's people despite the fact he will try. He might maime, or even kill, but the soul of God's people through his word/Christ Jesus is cleansed already from all unrighteousness through faith in His Son. Christ will return fulfilling all spoken prophesy of God concerning his return.
Is God's revenge evil, God is only giving Satan and his angel what they desire freedom from him in an eternal fiery pit of torment. Everyone assumes believers want to go to heaven right now, no every believer wants to carry their cross til God not man calls them heavenward. It not for man to decide when man is to die. Satan holds the key to kingdom and the door is already waiting for every unbeliever. For the believer in Christ the key is held on to by Jesus and he is the key of eternal life. God's light shows the way of eternal lie. Salvation and the mark of the Holy Spirit can not be removed from God's children. The mark that points the way to eternal life, the mark and light that leads home. Which is the way of cross to deny oneself, and rise up in the light of God's love. To deny oneself and to follow after righteouness. To recognize our sinfulness, and to admit it. That we not always do things God's way. To demonstrate through faith God's way is better. Can we walk in the light of God's word ahead of us, even when the world tries to over shadow us with a similiar light of God. Can we know the diffence. Can we distinguish the light of Christ verse the light of man and immitation light of Satan.
God's word is the light of life. In him is no darkness. His revenge is only justice of the torment on Satan and angels that they did to God's own people. God's word will always stand. Will you walk in obedience to his word? Today God is calling you to have faith in his Son, to be delivered from sin, to know God's mercy and grace in your life for eternity. What is your decision today?
Dear Heavenly Father help those reading to know Christ paid it all for their sins too, if they will only receive his salvation. They he will give them the power to walk in the light of his word, by His Spirit, who seals them until the day one is ready to go home for eternity by God's grace, because their own cross is through. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: Matthew 16:13-28 KJV
13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.
28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
