Faith Is Light 09/23/2022
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisIsaiah 49:1-26 KJV
1 Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.
2 And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me;
3 And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.
4 Then I said, I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the LORD, and my work with my God.
5 And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.
6 And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.
7 Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee.
8 Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;
9 That thou mayest say to the prisoners, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Shew yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places.
10 They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them.
11 And I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be exalted.
12 Behold, these shall come from far: and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.
13 Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the LORD hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted.
14 But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me.
15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.
16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.
17 Thy children shall make haste; thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth of thee.
18 Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and come to thee. As I live, saith the LORD, thou shalt surely clothe thee with them all, as with an ornament, and bind them on thee, as a bride doeth.
19 For thy waste and thy desolate places, and the land of thy destruction, shall even now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants, and they that swallowed thee up shall be far away.
20 The children which thou shalt have, after thou hast lost the other, shall say again in thine ears, The place is too strait for me: give place to me that I may dwell.
21 Then shalt thou say in thine heart, Who hath begotten me these, seeing I have lost my children, and am desolate, a captive, and removing to and fro? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?
22 Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.
23 And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.
24 Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?
25 But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.
26 And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.
Isaiah is a prophet, but he speaks as if he is the Savior in regards that he was known by God in his mother's womb. Some may say this is about Jesus and it can be and is also. Isaiah is speaking as God spoke to him, and no doubt God revealed how he was like Christ, but yet not the Christ. Jewish nation was to be a type of Christ, but not Christ. Ministers of faith are to be a type of Christ but not Christ. God's protection over those he designed for a purpose is a reality most of us will not fully grasp, because of God's ability to raise up soldiers of faith for his work. He called Abraham as a young man, and yet he called others at different times in their life. Was Abraham prechosen before birth, the answer is it appears not in man's finite mind, but in God's infinite wisdom he sees the future of our lives, we can only assume despite anything Abraham may or may not have done in his young life, God's calling would be known to him in due time and his need to follow the will of God would happen. Israel understanding of them being light to the world is often a mystery, because one sees the action of bigotry toward other nations, and their standoffness of their actions towards others different from themselves in history of scripture. They sold to strangers, traded with people, only hospitable to a point, for to do so would be eating with gentiles a sin under the law, or only if they ate the gentiles food in regards to unclean meat and mingling in regards of intermarriage with heathens.
This light in darkness was to draw people to the law of God and then to faith in God. Understanding of who this God Israel worshipped. The prophetic call to the gentiles would be those that wanted to learn about faith in God that were not Jewish by birth. A teacher like our missionaries call to other nations and tribes of people. Our Savior Jesus' call was both to the Jews and Gentile nation and he minister to both while on the earth. We can not forget his ancestry back before King David had intermix of a nation through a grandmother named Ruth, whose great great grandchild would be king David. Jesus was both from the royal line of Israel and the Priestly line of Israel making him both religious and political law teacher. His call from society and his call of faith. These two groups mix well if they are not opposition to each other. However if under gentile law seldom does it mix will with outside faith of the legal law. When we speak of Jesus ancestry we speaking as if Joseph was his biological father and he was not, but we can grasp he came to shed light on his Father(God) rule was all about and the fact it was not man's law. Yet he born into the kingly family by birth, as Joseph would be his eartly father, representing the law of man he would be under.
The opposition of legal law sometimes goes against religious law. How does that apply to religious people, it comes down does the law apply directly or indirectly to one's faith. Gay rights I will pick on, or even abortion law. Go a step further in euthasia laws, and genocide laws. By political law anyone of these things could be legal, but does it effect your faith only if you in the battle line of it effecting you as individual. Only if it takes away your right to believe in opposition to it to be able to live your life against abortion, genocide, euthasia laws, and not to be a part of the homosexual life style with exemption of protecting their human rights. That is why shunning of people takes place because of differences, being not a participant of their activities because of spiritual beliefs.
As a Christian you believe birth control is okay because of medical, because of desiring to plan when you have a baby, you might ask then if God wants you to have five kids, what going to stop it from happening. Birth control will not control it. Those five kids call for a purpose of God. Where is the line drawn of God's will for a large family and God's call for a smaller family, not by your choice but his. Rats multiply quickly and can over run a city who not prepared to exterminate them. Does man kill to control world's population. How can we the world population be controlled not by man but God's divine will through his call of war, storms, devastation, plagues, and his death angel. Yet we are concerned about the population of our world, until a large death toll occurs by an act of man playing God. Devil trying to control the earth some would say. God allows it to show he can rise up with a new army of people, for he is the only one that is the giver of life. No devil can produce human life with out God's authority to let one live or die.
Where Science and God meet is when science thinks it can control the world and it can not. That how Jews of faith, were not only light, but Christians became the light to those that would hear the Gospel of Jesus. Jesus being the true light of the world.
The law and faith mix if they are unison to each other. Does true christianity with any governmental laws that are in opposition to it, and the answer is only if it is a law that does not directly effect them to where it faith is over legal law and power. Daniel being a prime example of faith vs the legal law.
What is the light of faith hidden in darkness really about, it hid by laws that protected by that shadowing of God Almighty laws. Only laws that are part of the law of the evil world are laws that do not shadow God's laws but only effect religion if it prevents faith from being in opposition to it. Trust me it works that way for the opposite as well. King Solomon many wives wre able to practice their faith of killing their babies and children, though the nation of Israel faith was Jewish. Why was this not stopped, because Solomon was king, and allowed a law to keep all his wives happy and him without the burden of feeding of so many children because of his lust for women. His sin causing more sin. His first sin marrying a woman outside the tribe of Israel that believe not in Israel God. Second sin was marrying more then one wife, and third allowing his wife sin to effect his own faith for a time.
The sin coming first through the political side of Israel then effecting the nation of Israel because of the disunity of the faith of two groups of power. Israel religious leaders having nothing to do with the Kings sin beyond the sacrifices for sin.
When religious people stand on their faith in opposition to their nation sin, or the sins of others, others feeling shunned and rightly so in one since, in another since they are light to what God does not approve of, idolatry, homosexuality, fornication, many wives, and abortion or killing of innocent lives.
Even hate groups are a type of religion unto themselves, in what they regard as not equal to their society, yet religious folks consider their light the right way of living and yet they to have things they hate, but do they kill what they hate, should not in today's society, if they are true pacifist in nature, but it does not mean they will not fight for their rights in a free society, because under the law they have a right too.
Is this a twister of light, no it twister of real truth. Americans can stand up against any law they deem unfit to their faith, but it does not make the law change if it effects another group or society unless what is happening is harmful or effect other human rights and sometimes this is overlook, if it solves a political problem of population unless it effect groups not part of that group of people. People in society are tolerating of many groups of people and their ways of doing things, but forced to do it by people in opposition to their way of life is not a good thing.
Now back to the point Israel was to be the light that pointed to God, their legal system did not, their faith did. People would embrace Israel laws under the king but not the faith of Israel. What should of been light was not received. God not chosen but the political world was. Received and mimicked by many nations that came to hear the wisdom of Solomon. A King whose life style was much like there own despite the nations religion and the King's faith should of been in life style.
Christ came to set the standard of faith once more first to the Jews and then the Gentiles. Meaning faith standards being first and only in God the Father and His Word(Jesus) and His Spirit. His word being sharper then any sword or spear made because it pierce the soul of man when it would come to fruition. Even the sinner will bow to the word of God in horror or delight. God's word coming forth from his nation of his people in truth. Isaiah speaking triumph to the heathens, while Israel listen not believing God would send them into exile and the only people that were prepared for exile was the people of faith, who would one day return a remnant to continue to be a light to the world in which they lived. A carrier of the light of truth, and their Messiah that would come into the world to save his people from their sin. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for sending us your light first through your word and then through your Messiah and only begotten Son Jesus, in Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: Acts 13:47 KJV
47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.
Acts 26:15-18 KJV
15 And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.
16 But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;
17 Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,
18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
