Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Matthew 8:14-17 KJV
14 And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.
15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.
16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:
17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

Jesus is moved by our infirmities so much that he removed them as he walked among the people. He walks into Peter's home and see his Peter's wife mother laying down with fever and he touch her and her fever left and she got up and waited on them. Some might say she had company got up and did not say a word about how she felt, but something occurs, by evening many came and sought Jesus to have demons removed and healed of sickness. The fever left Peter's mother inlaw, and the news had spread to the point by evening people after work, after whatever was coming to see Jesus.

Jesus healed all of them that came to him, even casting out demons. Can you imagine being in a crowd in the need of healing. To be where large group of people were delivered. The change was known to all that knew them before and word would spread like wildfire.

We do not think of how the crowds or why the crowds gather but they did. Then when you close examine it, one realizes it because of the miracles that were done in the lives of so many people. In the wilderness(time of Moses) when miracles happen there does not seem like much rejoicing but fear coming upon the people of who God was and is. Why is Christ more acceptable, is it because of his humanity. The answer is perhaps. Some would of viewed him as a prophet, teacher, rabbi and and so forth. They were not in fear to come to Jesus because he was in human form. God is present in parts of Old Testament in human form. Yet we do not question the fear of God in the Old Testament when deliverance came, because God's wrath was equally shown.

The fear of God comes with one not understanding God's mercy and grace. Another reason for fear is never receiving God's mercy and grace in Old testament. David never seemed in fear of God not even when he repented of his sin with Bathesheba. One might ask why? He was humbled before God, but he spoke, talked and walked with God in his daily spiritual life. His sin not unpunishable or not without correction, but God's forgiveness with punishment was real, yet God continue to enable him to do more then a small shepherd boy could of ever dreamed of doing.

God was touched by our infirmities, by our sin, by our demons in our life, and touch so that he continues to deliver man from all these things by His Spirit and faith In Christ Jesus. Some demons are really an evil spirit, and/or evil actions. Christ when he comes into one's heart through faith cleans out all the evil in a person's life. Somethings are easy to get rid of, and some takes the hand of God to move in the life of an individual. Some people torment people to the point some might consider them possessed by evil spirit. It is only the human temperment that causing one's ugliness in the world or environment they are in. Sometimes people act in pure evilness because of anger or revengeful nature. These evil spirits were more like a disease, perhaps some type of mental dysfunction, inbalance, or even something like autism, tourette syndrom and so forth. Involunteer motor actions that caused people act strangely to others. One boy recorded in scripture kept throwing himself into the fire, and his father came seeking Jesus because his disciples could not heal him. Jesus says some healing comes with prayer and fasting when his disciples wanted to know why they could not heal this boy, but he could.

We get in a place where we look at some of these things in scripture and not sure whether to believe in demons or not. I knew a girl with a bad attitude that got saved at camp I worked in. Her attitude changed upon receiving Christ as Lord. Faith builder was because of the miracle worker, Jesus. People seen the works of God and gave God glory. They knew not to believe in Jesus but they knew to believe in God. They understood not who Jesus was but some knew he was said to be the Messiah. Jesus was content at the time of his coming for people to believe in God even if they understood not who he was. Did this change. It changed with the cross. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whosoever belief in him would not perish but have everylasting life. John 3:16". Faith in Christ came with the cross, faith in Christ was established through the healings, but not all would believe until after the resurrection of who he was and still today some still do not believe.

Faith with a cost of unbelief, scary thought to have some knowledge of who God is but not all of it. Our works will not get us into heaven, our faith will not get us into heaven without God's word being true. God's word being true means we have the hope of eternity. Jesus was touched and is still touched by our need of healing. Jesus wants to restore, deliver and empower his people to share the Gospel through his deliverance first from sin and then other problems in our life, from healing and confusion caused by the devil. Many things thought to be demon activity is simply gases, light reflections and so forth. Often things can be proven what is causing the events. When things effect our body it something else. It could be mold/drugs, it can chemical imbalance, a disease, a reaction to someone playing mind games, bullying or abuse. If the problem is solvable it can come with just administrating the cure. Sometimes through doctor, but not always, God is able to heal people sick in their body, through his word of faith and people moved by action to pray. When we pray we learn to pary by God's Spirit in areas we unfamiliar with.

Jesus is still moved not only by our need for healing, but the move of his people that are continually asking for the needs of others. When God's heals and delivers, know it is act of God. No matter how he delivers the problem. God uses man sometimes and other times he does a miracle, or our bodies naturally heal itself, because God made us that way.

Dear Heavenly Father, I lift all those sick in body this morning, that you give them that healing touch they so desperately need today. Giving the strength to wait on your healing, by faith in God(Father, Son and Holy Spirit). In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Also Found In Luke 4:38-41 KJV
38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.
39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.
40 Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.
