Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Matthew 8:4-13 KJV
4 And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

Yesterday lesson the Leper came with the attitude will you heal me today, and then today lesson Jesus send him to be a testimony to the priest by performing the laws commanded by Moses. Testimony of healing coming forth to the priesthood by evidence of healing. I wonder how many Jesus told to do this and if the flood gates of sacrifice was going forth in the temple. That should of brought a revival. Yet it seems the testimony did not have a positive impact on the priesthood through out scripture. In fact this should of raked in money for the priesthood, so the theory that they were upset for loosing money seems not fitting right here, but this was early in Christ ministry.

The second story is of the centurion who was not Jew but a Roman and he believed Jesus could heal his servant. Jesus said he come, but centurion said you can just speak the word because I am a man of authority that tells others to come and go on command. With that Jesus seen this man had faith his presence not necessary only his word. Had this Centurion heard of God and his word going forth on command before he meet Jesus, I do not know, but he knew this man was of God if not God, and his word had weight and power to heal.

How many people need the touch of a minister to be healed, or a sign through someone saying I will pray to be delivered, knowing the sheaf of faith was laid out like Gideon only to in reality needed not the contact point in faith. There times in faith we need the contact point to know in our heart the reality of God's move in our life. It should not be, but it is. There other times we need no longer the contact point but the prayer, or the request be known to God, either ourselves or another. Why is this important. Why is it necessary to be touch and be prayed for. The embrace of another human while in prayer necessary for healing. Two in agreement anywhere in the world is all that is necessary for God to answer. It more then that, it is the faith of the one requesting the prayer for another. Why if this man have faith he did not just pray himself? He still sought Jesus for the healing of his servant.

I can pick this story apart about faith, but this man knew Jesus had the authority to send his word and the man would be healed. He knew Jesus was busy. He knew to go directly to the healer was essential for the healing to be accomplished. He knew he needed no one but Jesus to heal his servant. He knew not the laws of Jewish faith, but he knew on sight who Jesus was. The story is clear he was not Jewish, but Roman. An a Roman Centurion at that. When we go into the house of worship and ask for prayer for healing are we seeking Jesus or the person that knows Jesus and prayers have been answer that this person had made intercession for. Think again we need to seek Jesus.

We need to be careful of praylines. Are we in the line for the pastor touch or the touch of Jesus. Are we in the prayerline for deliverance or just for the word of God to be spoke of that deliverance either instant or coming forth in due time. Do you even have time for the prayline, all you have time is stick a piece of paper in a box at church and say Lord you know the need. Or if the church is in small groups, or small enough where request can be made known to the group, that you asking Jesus for a miracle, for healing, for that evidence of God's power in the life of another, that healing is there when going straight to God in a group of people. Are we seeking Jesus, or the interaction of a group. Interaction of faith activitate by believers in agreement, when taking a request to throne room of God on our knees, or the altar of faith in the heart, if going to the knees is difficult.

The removal of sin is simple you go directly to Jesus. Speak in prayer to God the Father, acknowledge and receive Christ work on the cross and receive him into your heart. That spiritual healing for our sins. Physical healing is receiving it first on faith that God is able, but also seeking him for healing and not the people of the church. Going forward and asking God not the pastor for healing. The pastor coming in agreement with you in faith, and maybe he leads the prayer, but he is not the ultimate healer(only the seeker of the healing. He is under direction of God or should be, some are wolves. Beware of those that think they have the power to do the delivering themselves, because they do not.

I do not doubt many sought the apostles after Christ resurrection with the mindset they were doing the healing. Paul even talks about it. People in Lystra thought Barnabas was Jupiter and Paul was Mercurius. They even stoned them when they heard he was not Jupiter and Mercurius. One would think healing from any source might be a blessing, but to the people of Lystra it was not. They understood not that those making intercession to God for them were not God himself.

Jesus making incession for people was not only God's only begotten Son but came with authority of God to the nation of Israel and surrounding areas that he minister in. Man has not that authority, but they still can make request known unto God for someone else. Praying and seeking God on his throne. Many people seek the guru without knowledge or understanding. Seek teachers, ministers and people of all types of religions for healing. Scarry thought. They know not who the healer is, they are in search of a physical healer like Jesus. Not understanding the spiritual power of God and Christ in their life if they would only seek him. Him meaning the unity of Godhead bodily(Father, Son and Holy Spirit). Who has the authority to heal today, God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and none other. Doctors are people using what they know works by scientific deduction and effectiveness. Nothing wrong with medicine learning all they can about how our bodies repond to medical medicine or understanding. Yet it God who ultimately allows you to be well. There people that take the proper antedote and still die or never get well.

There people that pray for healing and God is not out to lunch but he going to teach you about waiting on his timing and meantime stretching your faith. There times God heals instantly, and over a period of time. Why is God not always instant, if he has the authority to heal, that is the question for God, to reveal to you about his will in your life and sometimes he reveals it about another journey.

Do you have a patience to ask God and leave it at the throne room of grace. God hears and can deliver immediately according to his will in your life and sometimes it is instantly because of the need in your life to perhaps increase faith. Know no minister is the healer that God almighty through his Son and Spirit is our healer. These three as one has been our healer for centuries. We must learn to directly seek him, and do not discourage others from praying for you, but encourage them to pray with you in agreement that God's will be done. Accept God's will in your life, even when it not instant healing, but a work in progress.

Dear Heavenly Father, there many needs of healing out in the world today, and those that praying for someone special, whether themselves or another, we lift them to you in hopes that today is their day of healing by your power and might. That we agree to wait for your time and will. We lift them by name to you(those that know the name lift them up and those like myself know not their names) requesting but you know their name, that today be their day of healing. Let it be in agreement of faith and by your power that they healed, in Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Acts 14:8-18 KJV
8 And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked:
9 The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,
10 Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.
11 And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.
12 And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker.
13 Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.
14 Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,
15 And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:
16 Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.
17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.
18 And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.
