Clarifying What Sin And Love Is
10/25/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Romans 6:1-14 KJV
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

What is sin? Many give a list of thing that is sinful including chocolate which chocolate is not. Yet, what is sin? Sin is anything in the opposition to God's will for our life. God gives two chief commands to love him and to love others as you do yourself. What is love but unconditonal favor on someone for no reason but to show unprohibited favor. George our cat shows unprohibited love every morning, he reminds me he was a stray and curls up in my arms when I try to write. He came to us as a stray at about six weeks old. The first two weeks I did not feed him, I told my husband do not feed it he will go elsewhere. I not sure who feed him but it was not us, but he decided our porch was his shelter despite the rain that came for those two weeks. I never figured out what the little thing ate, but he consider our house his house. He would walk with our dog, no strings attached, and dog would walk on her leash, never forbidding the kitten from walking with her. She adopted my husband and my dog first. However no one could catch the kitten. After two weeks I grabbed a sheet, and tossed it over the kitten like a net, and it startled him enough he froze to where i could pick the kitten under the sheet up. He did not fight like most strays would have. Instead he purred. This kitten kept loving us despite what we did to try and turn it away. We even tried to give it to the shelter but they were full. Kitten stay two more weeks outside before I said lets get the vet to check him out and see if he healthy because he got a cold from that rain storm. Now off to vet, he declare healthy only in need of antibodics and plenty of love. Mongo had no trouble taking up with it, that our other cat who would father it and teach it to be a cat, the dog mother it. Nurture the kitten until he became an adult.

Point is that unconditional love that kitten kept showing my family came with no strings attached. He did ask to be adopted, he just moved in. That cat continues to love even when others pull his ears, tail and legs in playful manner. God loves us before we even loved him. He loved us because he created us. God molded first man by his hands and then woman as well. The rest of us being conceive of natural method or a test tube. Either way we are then born. Most parents love there children and their children love them back. If abuse occurs it sometimes forgiven and sometimes not. What occurs is this unconditional love until children get older. Their ignorance of life ignored or corrected. Love continues into adulthood hopefully, but not always. God's love is like before receiving his Son has Savior and Lord. Upon belief in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, God teaches us who he is and about what he does. Most can accept the idea of an unconditional love with ever truly experience it, because it the same love each want to show ourselves.

Christ went to the cross for you and me, because of his Father love and his love for us. He willingly obey his Heavenly Father. Yet it was more, he was willing to suffer for his obedience to his Father. We as believers are baptized into his obedience of the cross and rise again in his victory. Many buried obeying Christ but not were raised up. Yet all that believe God gave the right to be children of God and with that knowledge all that believed were lifted up spiritually to heaven upon death. Some to leave the decay of their bodies behind. Those that obeyed God despite the cost, God rewarded as their testimony of faith traveled and other believed. God's grace covering a multitude of sin because of our faith. Yet our strive is not to sin. Our strive is to obey God. Sometimes his childre fail and when we do we must remember Christ paid for that. Did he deserve more sin heaped on his already bleeding flesh from the original beating and cross. The mockery of Christ being God's only begotten Son, and I just goof ring a bell. What about when God whispers in our ear the truth about something that not of our knowledge ability and it comes to pass. Did we believe what he whispered. I know that not all believe the prophets and not all believe God's Spirit at times in their life, and yet the Spirit still revealed it to our error. He keeps loving despite our error of unbelief, our adultery of our time away from praising him, and worship. God keeps loving us even when we can not love others, and our own ain is far spent long passed its due.

God's grace did not stop when we received him as Lord and Savior, it continued in our failings, it continued in our unrighteous behavior, it continued in our selfishness. Yet God's love remained, despite who we are, as Children of God but not always children and students of his word in obedience to his word. Devil believes God but obeys him not, and God had to set limits on what the devil's power could do. His corruption so great, he has no love for God or his people.

This season of fall is a beautiful time of year, with the changing of colors of leaves, but this year colors have not been their brightest or loveliest. Yet most would say they still love fall that do. Why because of weather, or just because it a time of change. God loves us even when we shine not so bright for him. He still uses us to bring change in others no matter how brightly we shine in our brilliance as believers or in our weakness of colors that seem dingy and not so clean with the spots of sin upon us. Our faith being greater to God then our weakness or our strength. More then our good works or our slack behavior. God's grace moves in our hearts to declare his goodness, if people can only understand we are human too. Today think nothing more then about his grace at the very least, you will find it a lot to think on. God kept loving us and even butting into our life even when we wanted him not in our life, not understanding who he was or what he desired from us. It not about being goody two shoes, or being perfect by our mental standards, but our perfection comes by faith and even in that weakness of faith God springs forth new branches of faith in our life. That we can love and know his power is greater then ourselves.

Dear Heavenly Father you grace is sufficient in our life. Help us to believe, to trust and obey you because you loved us first and desire to redeem your people from the original sin of disobedience of unbelief in you. Help us to believe in our weakness and in our unrighteous behavior. Helps us to strive to obey you to not had stripes to Christ back. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Romans 5:8-12 KJV
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
