Are We All Under God's Grace
10/24/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Romans 6:1-23 KJV
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Do you know where your eternity is? For a believer in God and Christ Jesus, we find something interesting our sin no longer matters to God. However it does not mean we keep sinning. It means we strive to live by faith and not by sight. There times we live by sight, by the things we understand and this is not how God wants us to live. He wants us to learn to walk not by sight. Put a blind fold on, how far around your own house or dwelling place can you go before ripping off the blind fold. Some will make it half of a step and other into many rooms of their home. Go outside with that blind fold on, a blind person does far better then you ever will. When we find ourselves outside our elements, we know that trusting in Jesus and listening to his Spirit is important. When listening to all the other voices trying to tell us which way to go we can not hear the Messiah until we tune those other voices out.

When we walk in faith, we are no longer under condemnation of eternal death, that we justly deserve because of disobedience to God. We die with Christ and rise again in baptism to eternal life upon receiving Jesus Christ as Lord. That condemnation, we receive because we are sinner, continues by the world but no longer by God because we are justified by faith, through the blood of Christ Jesus. Who paid the price for our sin, because he obey God, and knew no sin of humanity in his own flesh. He accusers laying the weight of guilt of obeying God on his shoulders as he clear the temple tables and one ran into the high priest son and he killed him. Jesus would go to the cross instead of Barabbas. Dying not only for Barabbas but for the sinner that was slain, for the sinner that nailed him to the cross, for the crowd that mocked and begged the government to crucify Jesus. Jesus died for the government of man. Died allowing the authority of the law to win, but only for a few days because on the third day he rose again. Everytime we deny God's word, believe it not, we are sinning. Our sin begins with disobedience to the word of God. Strong words when you understand what sin really is. Strong declaration of our humanity really never lives up to faith we stand on, because of our humanity is looking with our own eyes and not walking in the faith or seeing what God's word truly says about his grace.

God speaks calms words to our heart when terrible event arises, do we trust and believe him? Matters not how much we believe in God but do we believe the word in which he spoke. Do you think Abraham dealt with God's word about Sodom and Gomorrah very well, if he could not believe Sarah and him would have a son. Faith was stretched when his son truly came to be, after seeing Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed. The old age matter not, his baby in his arms told the story of truth now seen. It takes the blind faith to increase faith. It takes only hearing God and believing him to walk with a blindfold on and allowing him to lead us homeward to heaven. First step of faith in receiving Christ as Lord. Knowing his grace is enough for every sinner out there in the world if they will only believe first and then obey out of love for God. Jesus said on that cross Father forgive them they know not what they do(Luke 24). The world nailing him to the cross. Yet when he rose he spent his time with those that welcome him into their life and heart, he went to his home town in Galilee. He spent forty days with his disciples and family before going to heaven taken up in a cloud, while is disciples watched. He told them to feed his sheep. He told them to love the people as he loved them. God's grace is sufficient for the chief of sinners. Until we have faith we can not repent of sin, until we have faith, we can not decide to follow Jesus. Until we have faith we can not decide to allow Him to lead us on. We can not walk in true holiness unless we obey God as each believer has had to do before us.

Where are you in your faith. Do you believe in God but think he has no time for you, or you do not have time for him? He makes time and convicts every soul of sin that hopefully will one day repent of their sin and follow in faith in Christ Jesus. There is a hymn that says simply to "trust and obey for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey". The writer understood the principal of holiness mean to trust and obey God. To not follow the ways of sin, or the voices of others, but to listen and obey God.

Dear Heavenly Father help us to trust and obey you, because we are saved by grace it is your free gift of love you sent us as your Son, and not by our works should anyone boast that they are greater, in Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Romans 8:1-4 KJV
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
