Died Under The Same Condemnation
10/22/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 23:33-43 KJV
33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.
36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,
37 And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Two thieves on their cross beside Jesus. One mocking Christ on the cross and the other rebuking him telling him he was under the same condemnation as Jesus. Condenmnation of man and not God. Theives under the condemnation of God, only one was said to be with Christ later today in paradise. Meaning upon his death he would be in heaven with him. His body in the hell(grave) but his spirit with God the Father. Christ set the captives of the grave free. upon his death you see, both spiritually and physically those with faith in God. The one thief asking the other do you not fear God considering you dying as the Messiah is. One responding that he and the other man deserved to die so what right do you have to ask Jesus to save us and himself too. We deserve our cross but Jesus does not.

If with faith which is righteousness then one is not condemned despite the sin one has to ask why is sin wrong. If sin is wrong why is it over looked by Jesus with the man that defended him. It has to do with the condemnation of man? No, the thief was willing to admitted his sin and he deserved death. It is with our understanding we deserve death because of our sin, that we do not deserve heaven, do not deserve the good things of even this world or world to come, that God reaches down in his love for us while we were yet sinners, Christ would die in our place, even though he had the power to remove his cross from himself and did not.

A child under strict rules told not to go into the water before him, he jumps in anyway despite his parents instructions. His father jumps in unable to swim and the life guard jumps saving the child but not the father. The father dying because of his son sin and his own sin of knowing of his own inability to not be able to swim. His father willing to do anything to save the child that is drowning, but failed to see his son's salvation was in place. Life guard power only to save one, but not the other. Why the father knew it was hazardous to go into the water for himself and did anyway with knowing the life guard was on the shoreline. Instead of asking for help for his son, he played God in trying to rescue him.

The mocking of one thief shows himself as playing God like figure, because of his sin of mocking, as to the fact God's Christ was not saving himself from his fate or the king of the Jews. The other thief looking at his partner in sin and saying look you and I deserve death, trying to save the one acting like God but can not. So the thief ask Jesus to remember when he came into his kingdom, knowing Jesus was just and he was not even worthy to enter heaven or to be saved. Jesus saved him because of his honesty and faith that God would not input his sin on him. That there was sin overlooked with acknowledgement he was unworthy to be forgiven but knew he would be, because of God's love for him. His fear of God and understanding of God's love was greater then the one that understood not that God salvation came with repentance and remorse for sin. God's love and mercy came with the stark reality of who we are under the yoke of faith in his word for our redemption.

Dear Heavenly Father, we deserve our cross, but you still love us, and offer the greatest gift of salvation with our humbleness to understand our place in your kingdom not as godhead but the mercy of grace you bestow on all that will believe, no longer condemned by sin, but under the law of grace for our belief. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: John 5:24 KJV
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

John 3:14-21 KJV
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
