11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

The end of this month is the celebration of Halloween. Many Christians died as maryters in ancient times. Most consider Halloween just a time of fun, but in truth what does it celebrate? Time of the druids dealing with divination with spirits and their world, and also part of South American culture in the form of Shamanism. When we can understand where certain holidays like Halloween culture comes from and why Christians are encouraged by certain groups not to be a part of it, it leaves others think it part of a culture why should it bother anyone. It is the art of divination that they encourage even talking to the Spirit world that God forbids in scripture. God forbiding witchcraft and other arts of this nature. In truth society has these groups still among us because of culture exchange. Some see it has no more then a time of fun and games, never looking beyond what it celebrates. Many Americans have participated in halloween activities even if only in the business world and think little of it. Church have halloween parties and no one thinks anything about it because kids are having fun dressing up as Bible characters or fancy characters. No one thinks anymore about it then just that. It a night of celebrating fall perhaps and the coming winter season. Hayrides and so forth. It is a part of our culture. A time to talk to children about taking food from strangers like candy and warnings of needles and things in apples. No really taking any of it serious until evil befalls them on halloween night.

Why follow a group that practice is of divination or magical art? If we are truly believers we should be anti halloween. Yet we change the practice to something of God and just use it as a time of celebrating who Christ is, and having fun or a party in relation to the season does it matter. If we mask the hidden truth of Halloween with candy, treates and parties? Trust me I not trying to take your fun. If we use this as a time to celebrate grossness, evil, gore, and more then are we in sin. Key word here is celebrate. Why would anyone celebrate evil. Christians were maryter by those that were opposition to their culture and beliefs. They way they were killed is grusome. The world dress as their favorite serial killer movie without regards to what they are imitating and acting out in fakery. Those that participate in reality of horror stories of evil, become enemies of the government, their neighbors and their friends, without realizing their crime of humanity.

If we are to have Christ in halloween, we need to take up the cross of not only speaking against evil but explaining why evil needs to be left alone. Most that never understood or read a mystery would never know how evil some people truly can be. No one wants to think of human sacrifices, human be consumed by insane people, but occasionally people hear of people like Jeffery Domer being caught. You hear of people being drug behind cars, and bodies being torn to shreds. And no one thinks it will be them. It is the legend that scare children and adults say did that really happen. It is worse then 911 in thinking. Yet what people will hopefully remember of 911 is the gathering of people together to fight terror and to reflect on the event that came to be. Christians we look at David slaying the giant in defence and think of the gruesomeness of it as part of war. The slaughter of war not the same as grusome of mental insane. What about the mentally insane that can lead people to their own destruction. Sometimes our world makes no sense. When should evil be celebrated only in victory when evil is overcome. When destruction destroys evil leaders, wick men/women. Evil should not celebrate but the one who overcomes evil. Did not Christ overcome evil on the cross. Should we be celebrating Christ victory and not the evil or deception of the enemy through their magical arts.

Consider today, who you serve, who you worship and who has power and victory for eternity. Consider what halloween is to you, if it is only a festive event of a night of fun, or a time to pull out all the wickedness you can find to do. If you choosing evil it not of God. Evil has never been of God. God only uses his wrath to over come evil. No more then a spiritual war against the enemy of darkness. Shun the evil of the season, and put a Christ light into the season. Put Christ love for humanity, and Christ death on the cross for our sin where it belongs. Do not endorse the evil of the culture, but embrace the good things of God that in opposition to the devil.

Dear Heavenly Father, this time of year kids just want to have fun, but remind them of your mercy and grace. That the celebration of evil is not of you. That evil has nothing to do with why you cause destruction, but that you are truly about love and building up of others. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
