turtle30cshell Daily Devotions For October 04, 2022
Pillar Of Fire
10/04/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Exodus 13:18-22 KJV
18 But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.
19 And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.
20 And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.
21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:
22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

It is the fire prevention month and most of the older generation can remember when smokie the bear came to our schools and taught us how to get out of danger of a fire. How to drop and roll if on fire and how to dowse it with water, unless it was a grease fire. Taught to go to the lowest part of the room to breath if it was smoked filled when trying to get out of a burning building. That what fire fighters always taught in schools. However there is a fire that is burning continually and it is the light of God but in the daytime when their is light you barely see light of the fire but one can see the light from the sun casting through even the clouds. As Israel travels they had one cloud leading them and a fire that lead them to the promise land. God was in the fire and in the cloud. This is the only fire that burns with a cloud and a fire that man ever wanted to follow. Consider this most time people are running in the opposite direction. A volcano with smoke in the day and fire at night was not God, but it was the direction Israel headed towards. The story of the burning bush in Exodus 3 God was in the bush that burned with fire, but the bush itself was not God. Neither was God the pillar of a cloud or a pillar of fire, but were images to remind the people of God's continual presents in their life as they traveled to the promise land. It acted as a reminder and gave them a focal point to remember God's mercy, deliverance and judgment. God being in the cloud and in the fire but not the fire or the cloud. Why the cloud and fire were the volcano. The direction they needed to head in towards Mount Sinai and the place to cross the red sea. If you go further then where the crossing was for Israel you will find on a map two forks of the red sea, or a place much easier to cross. The miracle came with the parting of the red sea. The distance from point A to point B was quicker with the parting of the Red Sea. Now this is part history and part research about this region, however what is found in the red sea at this location is pieces of iron and so forth that may of come from chariots. This is why Hebrew people believe even today, and many Christians as well. God using the impossible to destroy the enemy and allowing archaelogist the ability to prove it could of been. It will only be a theory to some of them, but to a believer it is facts coming to life. It light that shines on truth of scripture.

It time to think about that constant reminder of God to Israel but in reality it was also a constant reminder of their fear of God, and yet people had no problem grumbling and complaining to Moses when God seem to fail them, because they sought not God. Are we not as guilty when we grumble and complain to God about our own situation, of the constant reminder of his presence is still in our life. In our world today through storms, through good times, through the veil of others we have the presence and knowledge of God. In the new land we long for God is light and is Son is the light of the world. There is no more darkness(evil and sorrow). There will be no more evil in the new world. God is teaching not just Israel but the world of the reality of our long is not the wilderness, but that direct communciation we need with God. To communicate our needs, to oversee our daily life.

Old people have button now to push if they fall, a direct link to get rescue and get aid to them if they need it. Before if one fell they were at the mercy of God sending someone or someone noticing they had not seen the neighbor who would just check on their well being. Though technology can be good, it the programs they download to your phone that track your computer habits that are not necessary for mankind. It a type of stalking device that unnecessary. I found out about it when i bought my new phone. Don't like those programs. Eventually the techno world will try to limit people time online. Not realizing it takes little time to clean, cook, wash, and so forth. How can the computer be useful, education, socialization, but not the only socialization. What am i talking about God in our life, is he concern with our well being, I do know that he is, but I do not doubt he is not the control freak some people are in trying to control other people lives. His desire to be with us is as a friend. The same way Jesus was when he walked and talked with his disciples and those that came seeking him. Did he not prove wine for his friend, did he not heal and raise people from the dead while among the people. Did he not speed the fishing process up on a long night of nothing to catch. Did he not calm the storms. Jesus did many things to demonstrate to the people of the world what a day would be like with him. To tell what the promise land and hope would be like that believers long for.

Exodus was the constant reminder of God's presence without that relationship of faith. When Israel truly began to have faith in God was when the serpents bit them and they went to Moses and told him they need to seek God for deliverance. We get the idea of Beulah land being perfect, and it is the image of perfection of that relationship with God and Christ not seen on the earth. Why because as Christian do we fail to pray first? Why because a Christian we fail to seek God before man? Do fail to understand God above us, and all we got to do is believe pray and receive Christ as Lord, to have him in one's life daily. Is to walk as the disciples did on the earth. No longer a division of pillar of a cloud or of fire. It is the welcoming of God into our life and his Son Jesus, to be Lord of one's life. It to know the promise land is a place of joy and no longer sorrow that the earth we live on sometimes brings. There is Joy with Jesus, here on earth and in sweet Beulah land(New Jerusalem). The place every believer longs for, but it the place that worth waiting for, because to be absent from our bodies is to be present with the Lord, and so to be absent in body or present we know God is with us as believer. If we can grasp this one thing, we can see the hope Israel was searching for but could not grab hold of, because of fear of God and his wrath. They had just watch seven plagues be deliverd on Egypt that was the wrath of God. How would you feel would you be ready to embrace God's love?

Dear Heavenly Father you love us and want to teach us of the right relationship with you through your Son and Holy Spirit. Teach us that being in your presence is not out fear but out of hope, love and communication with you through Spirit and your word. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: 2 Corinthians 5:5-8 KJV
5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Revelation 22:1-5 KJV
1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:
4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. 5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
