Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Exodus 9:16-35 KJV
16 And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.
17 As yet exaltest thou thyself against my people, that thou wilt not let them go?
18 Behold, to morrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as hath not been in Egypt since the foundation thereof even until now.
19 Send therefore now, and gather thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the field; for upon every man and beast which shall be found in the field, and shall not be brought home, the hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die.
20 He that feared the word of the LORD among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses:
21 And he that regarded not the word of the LORD left his servants and his cattle in the field.
22 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch forth thine hand toward heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, upon man, and upon beast, and upon every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt.
23 And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt.
24 So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.
25 And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field.
26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail.
27 And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: the LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked.
28 Intreat the LORD (for it is enough) that there be no more mighty thunderings and hail; and I will let you go, and ye shall stay no longer.
29 And Moses said unto him, As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands unto the LORD; and the thunder shall cease, neither shall there be any more hail; that thou mayest know how that the earth is the LORD'S.
30 But as for thee and thy servants, I know that ye will not yet fear the LORD God.
31 And the flax and the barley was smitten: for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was bolled.
32 But the wheat and the rie were not smitten: for they were not grown up.
33 And Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread abroad his hands unto the LORD: and the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured upon the earth.
34 And when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders were ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his servants.
35 And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, neither would he let the children of Israel go; as the LORD had spoken by Moses.

The fullfillment of the prophesy during the time of Moses. Realize he prophesied to Pharaoh then it occured. The warning before the dying. Most of us are not prepared for what is to come. In the church world we hear the stories of prophesies coming to pass. How accurate was the weatherman for this last storm that came through Florida. If you can help Florida I encourage you to so, by the Spirit of God leading you. Some will go as volunteers and others as work crews like power and stuff. Think before you go disaster are never pretty. I can not imagine seven plagues that plagued Pharaoh coming back to back in our nation much less our world. You have to wonder. About our own nation in recent years have seen by camera the devastation of storms, but never all in one location back to back usually. This is like a general in military hitting back to back one area to bring it down, but God instead is using his power with tools he made to take the area of Egypt down. We need that vivid picture of the seven plagues of Egypt to understand what God's wrath on the world will truly be like. It not just one plague that goes global but it storms and devastion happening simultaneous around and all at once globally, not one location missed by it. The wrath of God in Egypt was prophesied but God also harden Pharaoh heart to demonstrate his power and might over Pharoah and his dominions. Israel got to sit back and watch the destruction of Egypt that never touched their land in Goshen where they lived right outside of Egypt.

This is pretty cut and dry, meaning fairly clear about God's wrath, but we might fail to recognize the fire from heaven coming from what lightening. Lightening fires are not an odd occurence even in ancient times or our world today. Nothing odd about it really. Why should Pharaoh with a harden heart believe when it fire and hail stops that it from God. Plague the same way. The doubt and harden heart kept Pharaoh from seeing truth. The hail we do not know if it was typical evne for the time of year God sent it this disaster upon Pharaoh. I am wondering if Pharaoh looked out his window and watched it fall and watch as Moses left the Palace under the protection of God, for how did he weather it without some kind of godly protection, for anyone walking in the storm would die. Moses went outside to the land of Goshen before stretching for his hand and seen the hail storm leave. The power of God right in the mist of Pharoah. How big where those hail storms and was this one of those electrical storms that are rare even today. Most thunderstorms seem mild to me in our world today, but this would of been something tremendous with death for anyone outside their home. God's protection given to Egypt in this plague. God demonstrated his protection through prophesy. And yet it is over looked because we focus on the storm and not the promise of God given to Egypt.

Our government tries hard to play God by offering shelters. Time of Katerina shelters were not necessarily safe. Yet it was the only option of protection they could give the people by sending them to a stadium to shelter thousands of people, never considering what was needed for that shelter for that many people including a generator for electricity. No one was prepared for the water breaking at the dam. No one was prepared for all that occured. Some lost lives in Florida, Ian hurricane and nothing anyone could do to stop the devastation. Only warning could be heeded, and shelter hopefully in a better location given. What my point God provides, but do we listen, do we take the aid of another in times of storms. Pharoah apparently was listening, but he kept harden his heart after every plague God sent his way. Now the story of the death angel over Goshen and Egypt is very clear that God's protection was needed on the house of Hebrew/Israel people also and Egypt would have no protection unless they heeded and put blood on their doorpost too. God would protect all believers in him that would obey him. Other people besides Israel would go out of Egypt with the Hebrew people.

God's protection is awesome, and yet it does matter if you standing in the storm as Moses did as he went back to Goshen. Talk about parting of the red sea, no wonder Moses had faith. How many Egyptians died in fires and the hail storms that day. God's protection and mercy was greater upon Moses. Can we imagine God protection? Can we not see our own protection from God in the storms of our own life. When the final storms come and God unleashes his wrath on the world all believers at that time will walk through fire, never be bit by scorpions and the plagues of our will never hurt us. Powerful words, but has that point sunk in. We will see some of the ruination of the world, we see God's wrath coming on unbelievers. Yet we will not be harmed. Can you change your mind as unbeliever during this time, I have no clue. I like to hope that all that calls on the name of Jesus will be saved during the time of destruction upon the earth. Remember God is going to destroy the heaven and earth as well. What we know today will not exist and believers will be in the New Jerusalem built for his people. Our sorrow gone and any health issues healed by the power of God. We will know the mercy of God because we walked through fire, hail, and more plagues.

Dear Heavenly Father your power proven in the protections of the storms of Egypt, that is for the believers of even today. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Revelation 7:1-5; 9-17 KJV
1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,
3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,
12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.
13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.
17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
