The Hope Of God's Word 10/02/2022
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisGenesis 22:1-14 KJV
1 And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.
2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
3 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
4 Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.
5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.
6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.
7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
11 And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.
Giving up of two things one is in love with. First born and second born. Chapter before Genesis 22 the giving up of Abraham first born happened. Why is this important to this story. I heard a moslem woman say once will Abraham sacrificed his first born. And for this reason they did not have respect for the Jews from a Biblical respective. I did not agree at the time with her about Ishmael being sacrificed. However when you look at the two stories of the two boys, you can see clearly the son of sin was sacrificed for the sake of his younger brother heritage. Isaac would carry on the family line of the Jewish people and Ishmaelites would carry on the tribe of Ishmael, both were Abraham sons.
These two tribes would be joined together by the coming of Christ. Was Isaac place on the altar because of sin. The answer is no but out of obedience and fear to God, knowing God could restore even this son through resurrection if he desired. It would be seen(Jehovahjireh vs 14), the need to sacrifice either son for the will of God was important to Abraham and those that would hear the story, because when God sent his Son to die for our sin, the sin according to the world, he would be the sacrificial lamb, or the provide lamb of God. Ishmael and Isaac could not be joint heirs of Abrhams land only one could be. Who could be the joint heir of God's promise and heritage, anyone could be. God saved both son's and said they both would be a great nation. Both heirs to Beulah land in land not heaven or earth, but land by Christ redeeming blood. The Savior to all people that believed.
Was Ishamel saved? Ishmael was saved when God heard Ishmael cries. Isaac salvation came when angel prevented Abraham from killing his only son. Then a ram appeared in the thicket, and Abraham slaughter it for the sacrifice unto God. Why was Isaac Abraham only son, because he was son of promise and not a son of bondage, Ishmael was in bondage because of his mother. She had no title of marriage. Isaac a heir of promise, Ishmael was a heir by righteousness(belief as his biologic father Abraham was), and because of his tears of seeking God in his discomfort. Ishmael born not of promise was made an heir of eternal life.
This is a hard thing to grasp to be born of hope and one born of trying to change God's will, or God's design of things. It would never work, and Sarah knew when she ask Abraham to send Hagar and Ishmael away. The hope of control destroyed by the sending away of the son that never could be heir by the will of God. Christ was the only begotten Son by the will of God, not the will of man. Our hope is not in our own will but the will of God.
Our understanding of God's will is hard to grasp. Understanding the light of God could only come one way is even hard for some to accept. God's will for man to draw all mankind through Christ Jesus was true and is still true today. That has never changed. God had mercy on both Abraham's offspring. Though one of bond's woman and one promise. They both were saved by God's word. And God gave his word to Hagar and Ishmael. God gave his word to Abraham concerning Isaac. That same word the created light and the same word that given to conceive in a virgin name Mary his only begotten Son name Jesus. That same word that is spoken about in John 1:1-14 of Christ coming into the world, being the word of God. Anyone that believed the word of God before Christ had the same hope and promise as those that believed in the promise of Christ. Christ being the hope and promise Messiah, the fullfillment of the word of God, as Isaac was the fullfillment of promise to his mother Sarah and his father Abraham. That word given to bring hope to the believer. Yet both groups would deny the word to come in the flesh being Jesus.
The word of God had to come through who God or Israel? The word must come through God even if it through a messenger like angelic being or minister of faith. Who choose his ministers but God himself. Who lays the foundation stone of faith but God himself. The foundation stone is Jesus(Word of God in the flesh) and the Word of God before Christ was the foundation stone of God from the beginning, because all that believed seen the truth of the word come to be.
Today I started with the Moslem woman saying Ishmael was sacrifice, he was only sacrificed because of sin, not because he could not be forgiven. The same word that forgave King David, and all that repented was the same word that forgave Ishmael for mocking Isaac. A forgiveness that could not be bought but given freely by God to all nations that would submit to his word. His word by the Holy Spirit to follow the coming Christ, that same Spirit that is given to all believers when the foundation stone of Christ is placed in one's heart upon belief.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your gift of a foundation stone of your word first and then your word in the flesh so man could see the truth of your word. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.
34 The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?
35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
Genesis 21:9-21 KJV
9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking.
10 Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.
11 And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight because of his son.
12 And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.
13 And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.
14 And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.
15 And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.
16 And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bowshot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept.
17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.
18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.
19 And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.
20 And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.
21 And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.
