The Power Walk: Lesson 17
1/27/2022

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 12:15-21 KJV
15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

Ever dealt with the idea you want to hoard. Now most would say because Christina personal house is small, that half of it could go in the trash probably, then I would tell you why some items have been kept and other things I agree could be probably tossed. I heard a rule of thumb if you haven't used something in twenty years you probably will never use it. If it not sellable, useable, or reconstructable, just toss it like trash. Egg cartons are savageable, useable but by most would be consider trash. Yet my nice neat pile of egg cartons sit on top of the refrige collecting no doubt dust. What is my point, we collect, we hoard even necklace, that has not been worn in years. We put books on a shelf, and food in the freezer and frige in hope it last through the winter months like a squirrel. When hurricane and tornado season comes in full swings we batten down the hatch, secure everything and make sure we got enough items packed in our house to live on for a few days at the minimum. Then when the storm and winter months pass, we ask was this truly necessary. One goes cleaning out the cupboard, the freezer and making sure old is gone by next winter season. What is six month of stock, it is stock that is monthly re added to as needed. Yet it stocked. What does this mean, are we better then the man building three barns and storing all his crops in one place. All his goods, trying to contain his wealth of supply, only to die?

Is it wrong to store food, is that what scripture is teaching. No God not saying not to plan or store, or stock for the seasons of storms, and staying in. What he speaking about abundance of supply by man's hands taking away the richness of faith towards God. A poor believer knows the power of prayer, when supplies are meet when all supplies seem bare. God still there, and when one prays God supplies the need or the solution. Many poor have even fished for their own supper, hunters killed a deer for food and been given food. In the city there always a soup kitchen doesnt mean you eat what you desire, but it food nontheless. I was looking at pictures of food supplies online, and thought to myself if that was the only stock supply, they going to need more before winter is over.

Then I look at the man with three barns, his soul was demanded of him and he stood before his maker with God's rejection planned. The man had desired only the works of his hands. We all desire good food, a good recipe and good things, but are those things taking place of our worship, and praise to God. Is your work removing you from the memory of God. You can covet the things of the world, and continue in the desire to hoarding those things to dwell on the value of those things, but that not God's will. Have you ever counted money to the point you wondering how you can save it or make it last. Banks of our time, are constantly trying to improve upon the goals of making money, and helping their people make money within the walls of their establishment. They only see the productivity of it, as it comes in and goes out.

What then is banking bad, if it hoards pennies, nickles and dimes, of course not, it is the industrial age of change, that causes some to try to encourage bank card against the looseness of change dropped and never picked up and used. Yet how many of us have a small change jar or bank, for the purpose of loose change that may never make it to bank before our death. I guarantee mine is never to full, but it does exist. It called that rainy day fund, but hopefully it never rains.

"But my God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus"(Phillipians 4:19 KJV). "Honor God with thy substance and with the firstfruits of all thine increases". God's supply has a reason some barns are never full, and need is always there. It hard to grasp these principals, when we know Elijah was feed by raven, people in the wilderness begged for something to eat and then meat, and then we see starvation because of sieges in scripture and nothing makes sense, until one understands what is the circumstance there trouble, what is the circumstance for the blessing, is one going through a trial or test of faith, and is one relying on God daily for supply because there is nothing in the land of plenty to fill one's plate. Then we are told if we plan and store and covet these possession more then God that when we stand before God we in need of salvation, because our desires of wealth was greater then our desire for God. What about faith? It is not cheap.

It not wrong to store, but it does not mean supply is there by your hand in times of crisis. Tornado can take it all away, along with a hurricane, fire or other destruction. We wonder how do we survive all these things in our lifetime, without hoarding, coveting, and desiring things of this world more then God. Keyword is the desire becoming increasing more then our faith. We become hearers of God's word, but looking to the things of our hands and not God who promises to take care of who his children that obey him. If Israel was starving, under seige, the answer was simple man had cease seeking and honoring God, and looking at what their hands could supply. Yet when Elijah was feed by raven, and drank from the brook he was supplied by God not out of abundance but out of his obedience, his trusting God for the supply. In the wilderness, Moses had to trust God when Israel start grumbling and God always supplied.

When Famine hits places around the world, who supplies, nations or God. Most of us declare nations supply, yet their prosperity comes from God and will only last as long as they honor him. There are people in constant need, and yet a daily ration is a blessing for them. They see the meal before them and know the blessings of a meal from God is an extended hands from nations around them. Yet when one name is called by God at the time of death are we standing and saying God you provided through out my life, government did it or my hands did it?

God supplied for the sparrow and yet the sparrow builds a nest with his beak, and intwines the threads of stickes and other matterial he makes his nest from. Does it mean his supply is not without him using his effort. Who gave him the knowledge to build. Rich man can say his hands were fruitful, but does he say God made him fruitful. Even people that do not trust in God receive blessings from God from the fruit of labor. The answer is why? The question is why do we see the prosperity of even the heathens on the earth. Not because they praise God, God provides for his children, and corrects them all. It makes no sense some of the things we see in the world. We might have a responsibility to God and the world, what we do not have is a responsibility to figure it all out. Why? Because we do not know if it a test, whether it is a correction, or a judgment. We do not know if something is coals of blessings being heaped on a person head til the time of death, with judgment of eternal lake of fire. We do not know when God might remove a blessing and a person has to suffer. How many old people land in nursing homes that would of rather been at home, because their care need was greater then what could of been provided in a home. All they accomplished gone and their minds able. How many die to car wreck or other things never receiving the blessing of really enjoy the work of their hands in retirments.

Nothing wrong with planning one's retirment, future, and desires, but when it all comes down to it in life, are you honoring God first, sacrificing your first fruits of your labor in faith, not because of one's salvation, but out of obedience to God. God knows his children desire to follow and obey, even times of distress, especially when a person can no longer trust in the labor of our own hands, because as the sparrow the believer has to trust that God's supply will be there with each season. Season of supply, season of hardship, and season when we might be right with God but our neighbor is not and so forth. Old saying you do not want to be in a land headed for destruction unless your on the Lord side like Jeremiah, Isaiah and Ezekiel. Even Paul knew of God's supply for his people after the storm. To power walk we need to honor the one that supplies.

Dear Heavenly Father, no matter what we able to create and supply by our own making, let us honor you and your supply for things need for each season. Help us to trust in you and not ourselves. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

Philippians 4:19 KJV
19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
