The Power Walk: Lesson 8 1/18/2022
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisIsaiah 8:1-22 KJV
1 Moreover the LORD said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man's pen concerning Mahershalalhashbaz.
2 And I took unto me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.
3 And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said the LORD to me, Call his name Mahershalalhashbaz.
4 For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.
5 The LORD spake also unto me again, saying,
6 Forasmuch as this people refuseth the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah's son;
7 Now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:
8 And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.
9 Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.
10 Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.
11 For the LORD spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying,
12 Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.
13 Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.
14 And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
15 And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.
16 Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.
17 And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.
18 Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.
19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?
20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
21 And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and look upward.
22 And they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and they shall be driven to darkness.
Mahershalalhasbaz name meaning is "swift is booty, speedy is prey", a symbolic name given to Isaiah by the Lord's direction to Isaiah's son; prophetic indiciation that Damacus and Samaria were to soon be plunder by the king of Assyria.(defined by Hebrew Interlinear dictionary) Why is all this information important information concerning the birth of Isaiah's own son. Isaiah would be the prophet that prophesied the virgin birth. It takes faith to prophecize. What does it mean for God to speak to Isaiah about specific details of the birth of his own son, only to then prophecised to the nation of Israel and the King of the virgin birth? There are key chapters before and after this prophecy concerning the Messiah. I find myself asking what power was given to Isaiah to not only speak but to believe himself, after all his own neck could be at risk, and yet he still spoke truth.
Consider Moses and burning bush and then going before the Egyptian Pharaoh, only to be proven that any magician could do it until the plagues waxed worse and worse and the magicians of Egypt step away as Moses demonstrated the power of God to him. When did fear finally leave Moses, I do not think it ever did. It is the awe of what God's power can do both with a revenge and to do good. The provision of water, and food in the wilderness for the people.
The danger of false prophesy, it easy to speak, but dangerous to your soul, so beware of what you speak make sure it from God. However God's preparation to enable Isaiah to speak the prophecy of our Savior perhaps starts with his own preparation of and proof of the son his wife had. He held his own son as Assyria got ready to plunder Damacus and Syria.
You think you can not do what God is asking you to do, think again. Part of the power walk of faith, is learning to trust and obey. There is an old hymn called Trust and Obey, and it says "trust and obey for there no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey." As a child this was a favorite hymn the adults sang in church, perhaps because it was one of the more upbeat hymns or simplicity of the song a child could understand from child like point of view. As adults those words of obedience become a little more difficult or complex because we view the world around us, and instead looking to Jesus, we look all around us for answers. Yet the prophetic words is a type of coming to pass a symbol of God being with a person or with a group of people. Immanuel means God's with us. Israel were to take the sign of the prophet son to meaning God is with us. We also see that a confederacy(freedom) was not be declared because of this war or prophecy that was coming to pass.
Though prophesy of man is more correct then it was 30 years ago, such as weather storms and such. God's prophesy definitely will always come to pass, unless repentance occurs like at time of Jonah, and the prophesy would come pass when Nineveh sinned against God once more. God is merciful to every generation that will repent. Does are nation need to repent for cov-19 to leave, do you say God cause the virus or a scientist?
Are you seeking sorcers, fortune tellers, psychics for knowledge that is false. Are you dabbling in the lies of these people. The harmless fortune cookie, or is it? It easy to break those cookies open, read the fortune and toss it away, but does it have any power over one's life? The minute you allow the lies or even good words of false prophecy to control your mind of what is to be, is the minute Satan has an edge into your life.
To have real power, not of your own to use as you desire, but to know the power is to know God saving grace through prophecy, through his word that will come to pass and so forth. One can not control that type of power, only God can speak to the prophet or person's heart
truth and the power of his word into our heart and life, that we see his power manfest in the world around us. Imagine the prophecy of Damacus and Syria bring a certain amount of darkness and light at the same time. This was those beside Israel for years that were being effect by the King of Assyria, before Israel and Judah would go into exile themselves. The people rejoiced over Isaiah son, but not the words of Damacus and Syria. Prophecy is often two fold. End time prophecy is two fold.
Destruction spoken means God is foretelling evil events to come, but is also speaking a hope or truth to the believers heart. The joy of birth of receiving God's word as truth is as a new baby coming into to man, and yet it is also sadden by it. A joy and revival at last. Not one of us is prepared for what God's word says concerning final judgment but do we take it to heart as being true? Do we acknowledge the bowls of God's wrath being pour out upon the people declared in the book of Revelation and at the same time that Christ will claim his church? Can we handle all that God speaks? Most of the time, I do not think so. However can we except it as truth. The coming of Messiah for the believer in our world today is joy, but it is also a storm coming with Christ return that those left behind will weep and wail at his appearing.
Power in God's word and testimony and yet we stand in awe of his coming or in awe and fear of his wrath to come. Do we truly believe it will be. Do we rejoice in the prophecy of hope as a believer. Maybe even relish it a little bit that our destruction and demise is not because we lost our hope, but because our persecution is only a sign of the times we live in?
Isaiah watched not only Damacus and Syria be taken by Assyria but his own land, at the birth of his son, and with that thought his faith not only tested but revival in his soul that God shared it all with him, could help him leave Israel land with his head held high and march into exile. He served a God that purified his heart with each prophetic word spoken to his heart. He knew the hope and joy of Emmanuel that God was with him into exile and the remnant of God would return to Israel one day.
No we can not possess God but God can speak of what will be. This is part of the learning of the power walk. You can not walk with God's power in your heart until you understand the purpose of the Holy Spirit to bring comfort to the people in times of storm, as well as joy. Can you believe God's Spirit today? Can you trust him for what is to come. Can you have revival or are you wait and see type of person. We all tend to be the wait and see at times, but at some point you have to just receive God's word as spoken. The first words spoken to the heart of each of us, before the Holy Spirit comes to live in our hearts is "if we confess Jesus as Lord and repent of our sins he is faithful to forgive us." Receiving God's forgiveness on faith in the first mustard seed of faith where Immanuel is planted in your heart to grow.
Dear Heavenly Father, Help us to receive your testimony as truth in our hearts and even when we speak it. Let your word pentrate our life so much that we not only know we are a child of God but we accept it as your word of being truth. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
