Covered By Jesus: Lesson 1 1/01/2022
Daily Devotions: by Christina FarrisGenesis 3:6-12 KJV
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
God's covering came according to the continual Scripture Study while inside the garden. How do we know the covering or house for our Spirit is being created in heaven. Jesus says in John 14, he goes to prepare a place for us. Our new house is not of this earth. Why did Adam and Eve sew fig leaves together in heaven and hide from God, because one they covered their nakeness because of shame and two they were hiding their nakeness when they hid from God. God brings their sin to the open, uncovers it and they are nake before God Almighty. Then God makes a coats of skin for them. This is interesting because when man sin they would die, that was the punishment, however God covered them with skins he made into a coat. Now Adam and Eve has not left the garden yet, but before God they are naked and need covering, there own covering not protection enough, so God took wool from sheep and made a coat, a sweater so they were no longer naked. He did not even slay the sheep. Why do I think it was a sheep. God's word was what would protect Adam and Eve outside the garden. If they obeyed his word and heeded his warning, God's protection was upon them. After God is the good shepherd. Can I prove it? Well, we see Abel sacrifice a sheep on an altar. God consume sacrifices in scripture and to God, it was consider a sweet smelling savor/sacrifice unto the him. Would God demand sacrifice and why, sacrifices were both to honor God and also to pay for sin. Now Adam's and Eve sin never got covered beyond the coat God made for them, yet it came with a warning of not to try and cover your own sin, that a price for your sin must be paid by a sacrifice that had to come from God. The original covering of sin came from God in the form of a coat. It did not change the punishment, did not change the outcome. Did not change God having to cast them out of heaven. However the covering was like covering a wolf with sheep garment. God was going to turn Adam and Eve from being a devil into a sheep.
I am doing a little ad libing this morning to help see the picture a little more clearly of what God wants to do with each of us with the blood of Jesus. He wants to cleanse us from sin and purify our hearts, and enable us to be sheep and not wolves. The minute Eve followed the serpents words, Eve became a serpent and gave Adam the food that he could of refused. Now you got two serpents created by one serpent. Yet they thought they could cover, hide and blame another for their sin. They stood before God naked, because of their sin. Their nakeness a representation of having egg or mud on one's face, guilty as sin, but in truth, failing to see why they can not make ammends on their own by hiding it, and covering it up with tree leaves. God coveres these serpents with coat he makes, and cast them out before they find the tree of eternal life. God did not want them to find faith in the garden that would save them, only to face the punish he asigned them meaning life in eternal lake of fire. God cast them out to live in a world of choices, face punishment and a world where the choice of love and sin reigns. Giving you the choice as individuals to choice obedience and God's love, or the serpent and his deceit that will cost you for eternity.
Jesus is the word of God and so if Adam had only obeyed God, he would not of been cast out with his wife and serpent. He would of faced temptation and over came it on his own. We can not overcome temptation either without the power of the Holy Spirit. We might overcome for a time, but it will not last. How many alcoholics return to the bottle when disaster impacts their life, or something they can not handle occurs. Why is this alcohol is anedote that only allows one to forget their situations for a few hours and sometimes days depending how long you drink. If you remain in sin, and remain following the serpent, you going to find yourself not where you desire.
God requires us to follow him and his word to enter heaven, but also to heed his Spirit's warning, and directions that protects you in this life. When we get to heaven we have a new house in heaven and not this old body that decays here on earth to house our Spirit.
Dear Heavenly Father, as Christ's creates us a new house for each of us that believe, help us to follow God's Spirit, In Jesus precious name, Amen.
Continual Scripture Study: John 14:1-4 KJV
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
Genesis 3:21-24 KJV
21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
