Great Is His Faithfulness Day 18

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

1 Samuel 8:1-22 KJV
1 And it came to pass, when Samuel was old, that he made his sons judges over Israel.
2 Now the name of his firstborn was Joel; and the name of his second, Abiah: they were judges in Beersheba.
3 And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment.
4 Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah,
5 And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.
6 But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.
7 And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.
8 According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee.
9 Now therefore hearken unto their voice: howbeit yet protest solemnly unto them, and shew them the manner of the king that shall reign over them.
10 And Samuel told all the words of the LORD unto the people that asked of him a king.
11 And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots.
12 And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots.
13 And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.
14 And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants.
15 And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants.
16 And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work.
17 He will take the tenth of your sheep: and ye shall be his servants.
18 And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.
19 Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us;
20 That we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles.
21 And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he rehearsed them in the ears of the LORD.
22 And the LORD said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go ye every man unto his city.

There is a principal of folly here I want to point out today. I often get side tracked on the issue of sin and the law. However as a Christian I think of heaven and compare to the world I am living in, I ponder the issue of what is heaven like as a believer, and if Israel could not handle God in control, God bringing up leaders of faith and God establishing judges in their land to help people, what chance in heaven do I have of receiving all God has as receiving his Son Jesus as ruler and king. It matters not we have a pre understanding of what Christ rule would mean to us in the four gospels, it is the fact God's chosen people after a long period of time since the days in the wilderness, looked an seen with their own eyes the wickedness of the Prophet Samuel sons and the need for a different prophet then Samuel's sons, one must ask how come they did not ask for a judge/prophet as the man name Samuel instead of a king like the world around them? Why did God's people seek a king not like Samuel not like the judges of Israel or the elders, but like the world? God had a plan for a king like himself, his name is Jesus. He is from the tribe of Judah and sceptra would not depart of his hand. Now the Messiah birth is many centuries to go yet, but God's original from the beginning of sending a Savior was in one in the line of Israel offspring for the world. Yet the elders of Israel is seeking a king like the world. A king that allowed Idolatry and so forth. A king that would would allow justification of the king desires, to make them into people the king needed for his servanthood.

God in his wisdom and greatness to be faithful to his people gave them their desire of a ruler forced to rule in a godly fashion, that he desire not, his name was King Saul. Eventually King Saul desire of his heart would be turn over to the ruler of his heart, for he would be possessed by evil Spirit. The true heart of the believer is to allow God and Christ to rule. God would send the Messiah through the line of King David a man of God and a man the desire to obey and fear God. A man of the world but a man also the desired God. King David was a man that wanted to dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Fifteen years of writing for the Lord, the question occurs do I, does every believer desire God and Christ to be king in the land of eternity? Now it sounds stupid to ask that because as beleivers we receive Christ as Lord and Savior of our hearts and minds, but we still in the presents of the world and the things of the world. Even rich men/women who are saved have to ask the same question can they give up the things of the world for heaven? For eternity to be with God. Most might say we do not have a choice because our time has come other then whether we follow Christ or will we desire the place called hell. Two eternities and the choice is yours. Hell is not like earth, but earth is the only hell the believer understands in regards of living in a world of chaos and mayhem and under laws foreign to the word of God unless they parallel the laws of God as far as polite society. Most believes desire the laws of polite society, meaning the laws that are not in opposition to God's laws in the Old Testament and New Testament. The polite society that respects other person family and cares for one another without sexual immorality, destruction and chaos of wild partying and so forth. The things the can disrupt a good family. Can a drunk have good children? Who is caring for his kids when he drunk and unable to control himself in any form or fashion. Let us then apply to a drunk woman, can she be a mother to those kids, perhaps, but not one that is teaching how to successfully deal with a problem, without a bottle of liquor. It not a fine glass of wine shared, it is the party life style that teach irresponsiblity that leads to the gutter life style of laying in one's own vomit and filth and not because of bad caregiver, but something one does to themselves.

Israel was not looking necessarily for a corrupt king or ruler but upon anointing a king they got one that desire not to obey God not even in religious formality, he desired fame and fortune. God in his wisdom then choose a king after his own heart. He give a king name David to rule in King Saul's place. A king that Israel even today loves. A king whose family line would one day bring the Messiah. A Messiah reject a second time by the Priesthood in regards to having God has ruler.

God in his greatness shows us why our desires if not of him is not very good, and in our weakness, he reaches down and shows what is good and was great about his choices as leader. And so with the rejection Christ as King and crucified, God ask us to keep carrying the message of his risen king who be ruling the hearts of the believer as learn to accept his ways as being best for our life. Teenagers and young adults that backslide often find theirselves either missing what they lost and return knowing that God's way is best, or they continue to seek the world and truly are not backslidden but lost in the world of sin needing Christ redeemption. If God allows the prodigal son to return with the heart of repentance then we too need to allow the prodigal son to repent.

Where are you today, to receiving God's faithfulness to show us our desires of the world are not worthy of the plans he has for us as his children in his kingdom and his dominion for eternity. Let us seek him and allow him to teach us his ways.

Dear Heavenly Father teach us your ways to allow even our desires even when we are wrong to teach us your ways are best. It is the same as our desires of sin is not worthy to be in your kingdom, so purge it from us with us having knowledge of why not. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: God ordained a kingly line for Israel: Genesis 49:8-12 KJV
8 Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee.
9 Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?
10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:
12 His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.

Jesse King David Father was from the tribe of Judah: Isaiah 11:1-10 KJV
1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.
9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

John 15:10-27 KJV
10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.
18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.
23 He that hateth me hateth my Father also.
24 If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.
25 But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.
26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
