Made Whole

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 13:11-17 KJV
11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.
12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.
13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.
15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?
16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?
17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.

The other day watching a video of man that was bent over from disease and not because of a birth defect or injury, but because of disease that affect the spinal cord. He could not straighten up, but was bent from the waist all the way over to where his face touched his knee caps. Now a surgeon came to his area and seen the man's dilemna, only to know he could perform the surgery this man needed. After surgery he was able to be straighten, but it had been over thirty years since he had seen his mother's full face. Now imagine for a moment not to have the modern surgical and x ray equipment to diagnoise such disease and injury that could help correct a issue of bending of the spine. Now imagine for a moment this teacher Jesus, called you up to the front. Looked at you and said you are loose from you infirmities. you are bent over to a point of not being able to even see the speakers face, and now you behold him as you stand up and peer into his eyes for the first time, seeing your doctor that made you whole without surgery, without medicine of this world that no one can touch, or see. Yet no doubt that woman knew she been made whole. No doubt she knew Jesus was her healer. The reaction of the rulers of the synagogue is what disturbs me the most, because instead of rejoicing they get angry that Jesus had healed on the Sabbath day, and ye they untied their donkeys to ride on and all Jesus did was free his daughter of disease that had bent her over for eighteen years.

The truth of the matter if a person is made whole, then something is wrong when people can not rejoice with the person made whole. Instead often religious leaders and people are looking to why is this person whole on the Sabbath. Why is healing occuring when there is six other days to work and make people whole.

People can not rejoice over a healing even today, they rather feel sorry for a person for whatever reason, and in truth instead of rejoicing over what God has done, they look for a way to critize it. The rulers of the synagogue seen a man taking control of their temple, their place of worship, there power and control over a people.

We have to wonder if the wrong people are not in power at the time of Jesus, only to ask again who really in charge, God knows that this was the hour and time His Son was needed in a land that forgotten his power and his might. No doubt there were still believers in Israel even at the time of Christ for many healings took place on the Sabbath as well as six other days of the week. When God wants to mess with the minds of the leaders, it is done by demonstrating his power, especially when they think they themselves are in control.

I been watching our nation struggle over a pandemic and how many have turned to Jesus, and how many have retained their faith. How many church doors are shut because of pandemic. I am wondering the truth of the matter. How many churches did God shut using the pandemic with disease. Go to the church with the doors wide open still, go to the church where people still gather, those are God's churches. We must remember where do we fall on knees when God's people can no longer worship God. Churches choosing other means of keeping their churches open through internet for safety reason did not do so by mistake, and church that kept their doors open but said we going to obey the law on how many can gather at one time, but the doors remained open, even at expanding to more then one service and used the tools God had provided to keep the doors open. The one's that cried oh God their is a pandemic and i must hide first, is the ones that need God, so every preacher that free from responsibility go there and see if God will not demonstrate his power to the heathens. There is a revival there waiting to happen or doors to be permanently shut.

Where is our faith this morning, is it in the historical halls of yesteryears, or today in the presence that God is able to move his people in faith still today. Think many of us went to stores without even worrying about how tight that mask was, but more how empty the shelves in the store looked and still are if you look in some areas. My point is not on obedience to our government, but our misplacement of our fear. The synagogue rulers feared what they could not control, because it was of God and did not rejoice with one made whole.

There is a reason to obey the laws of our land, but if we misplace our fear in a disease we can not see or know if it is among us, to not fearing the God that can heal our diseases we have great issues. This is what I am saying where was your heart in the pandemic, to obedience to God or disease. Where was your joy and hope, in the disease or your healer. Where is your fear in your disease or your healer?

I can fear my diagnois of demaculent degeneration at age fifty or I can press on in faith that God knows what he is doing in my life and that this too will one day leave my body as other diseases and illness has. We are not exempt from illness, and so those that believed they were exempt because they were child of God learned a new lesson about faith, and those that took precaustions of this world and looked for ways to keep their people safe, found hope through cleanliness, and mask. Those that choose to continue without, some found death. Others did everything and still found death and disease. Yet the world knows now that even if we get sick God is going to heal us, either now or through our death into eternal life through faith in Christ Jesus and our hope is in Christ.

Our first step needs to be praying, the second step needs to be looking at why do our doors needed to be shut, and three not to forsake what God has established in our hearts. Our worship should of continued whether the church doors were closed or open. OUr worship should be in our hearts not in always where we go. Did God's people continue to worship. Then the church door was never shut. For the true worshippers worship in spirit and in truth(John 4:23-24) Do not think that what we seen in our day is any different then what tomorrow will be. For the devil will try and destroy the church as he did the synagogues and temple in Jesus day. Man wants the hush hush world, where nothing new happens, people are not delivered, and people are only pacified by what is known to the scientific world.

Does science win oh know, because they are effected even more so by disease and death. Remember God is going to win the final battle, so where are you today in your faith, when it comes to seeing God do miracles. Do I question true miracles, only if I do not know someone, because in truth anyone can say anything for a sideshow. Something to note in scripture the woman would of been known to have dilmenating disease that caused her to be bent over, for she would of walked that way for over eighteen years before her community. Why was the people of her community not rejoicing with this woman? What had she done wrong in her community to cause them to despise her. Why was she still outcast as she stood and her back straighten up at the command of Jesus words. There was not known procedure to straighten this woman's back as in the story of doctor that corrected a man's bent over body. In this day and time, Jesus was the only solution to her problem. Her only deliverance could come only from God.

Something wrong with the religious leaders are scoffers of the work of God. Something wrong when the enemy is attacking, God has done a work that can not be duplicated by them. The religious leaders lost control of the community, and their temple on the Sabbath. Religious leaders felt shame when Jesus correct them, and the people rejoiced over it. The people knew Jesus not only healed but set the leaders in their place.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your power to shame our enemies before our open churches around the world, as well as those that found more ways to minister to their people. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: : Revelation 21:3-4 KJV
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
