Peace And Safety
9/28/2019

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

1 Thessalonians 5:1-15 KJV
1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

Before war ever began in the Unite States, time when Colonist first landed here, there has been war. Oh there was disagreement with Native Americans, for John Smith almost lost his head if Pocahontas of the Algonquian Tribe had not saved him in 1607. Apparently captured by the tribe of Algonquian Tribe and some of the men were fixing to cut off his head when Pocahontas laid her head upon his head to stop the beheading. If Pocahontas had not been an Indian princess, she might not of had any power to do what she did in saving his life. Chief Powtan of Algonquian tribe made peace with John Smith. Our country has been at some form of altercation within its borders ever since landing here. Yet not always were settlers to be blamed. Since I been born there been rumors of war, and war. Since I was born stories of World War I and II, Korea, Vietnam has been scattered through time. Today we got both Gulf Wars, and Iraqi War, and even more scrimages in our nation history. If I ever heard the word peace and safety I would be a little concern to know the contain of these words. What do I mean will it is simple to think for a moment the world has been at war since before Roman Empire. War has been before King David, and despite what we think of the time period of Abraham as being peaceful. Lot, Abraham's nephew, was even kidnapped by opposing village/tribe/nation. What am I getting at there has been no peace in the world in regards to man vs man. The biggest opposition was the war between God and man. God sent peace to man to save man from the war against him. He sent aid to us, and not all receive his aid in the middle of war with God. How are we at war with God, until we receive his aid, we are in spiritual opposition to God. Upon salvation we gain peace with God but not with man necessarily.

Why does salvation cause peace with friends and family of faith, because you joined the winning team. God's truce flag is admitting your fault, and the need of Christ as Lord and Savior is pretty much the solution. To believe in Christ and repent and one more way of saying it, is to receive Christ as Lord and Savior, except him as the Victor, because he died and rose again having victory over sin and death. Death swallowed Christ for two full days and on the third day spewed him out. Christ overpower death. Isaac wrestled with God and God broke his hip. He left a mesage with Isaac he was not in charge. Christ left the Holy Spirit with the disciples and Peter began to preach, giving him power to preach good news, speak in unknown languages, heal the sick and to cast out demons.

Neighbors fight and cause strife and we sit and we watch the spirit of war and try our best to avoid it. In truth no one wants to be in the middle of altercation. No one wants in the middle of a family feud or a neighborhood feud, much less in a world fight. Yet there time God puts you in the middle of a ring and tells you to draw the weapons of warfare that He created, one with preaching/teaching, one the shield of faith and the breast plate of righteousness, and to gird up our loins with truth. Lets not forget the feet being sodded with the preparation of the Gospel of peace. The most important the helmet of Salvation and the sword of the Spirit to fight the enemy in every class and group of people around the world, from diginitaries and rulers, to people from all walks of life, sharing the truth the battle between God and man has been won with Christ being the gift of peace to all mankind.

How does Christ help with war in between mankind and each other. If God can make peace with us, should we not try and make peace with each other. Can Christians hold there peace long enough to make peace between others. Can we learn to work with others in opposition to God. Is our war with them in regards to life and liberty. The savagery of man without God and the settling of savagery with man. Can man learned to live in peace and harmony without God, only by laws and rules that control a person and technology adds down to their thoughts. training people to be like monkeys in the since of control to rules and regulations.

How does peace with God change the role of the laws of our land. Does it make us at peace with others. Does God control us to the point we no longer have the ability to argue, of course not. God allows us freedom to be human even with being saved, but he shows us the goodness of the right way of living, through faith and learning to get along with people instead of making war. My husband and I been married thirty years, and I can not say it always peaceful around the house. No home is completely peaceful for we all want to go in different directions. Some to bed early and to rise early and some to bed late to rise late, The list of things of opposition will surprise you. From what is for dinner, to what are we going to do today, or what are we doing individually today. Negotiation can even cause strife from what do you want for dinner, only to decide it doesn't really matter to either one and the discussion begins again to what are we having for dinner. Yes even a peaceful decision of a household can cause disagreement.

The small wars of family, friends and enemies can be solved by agreeing to disagree, or agreeing it just does not matter, but real peace is not a reality in anyone's corner. People agree to terms and then do not hold up to their end of the bargain all the time. Accidently stepping on a child's or pet toy and see if opposition comes if it gets broken by one's foot or causes pain. The truth of matter is war is all around us, but truth lies is with making peace, recognizing battles that can be won and battles that will remain lost, because of injury, disagreement, force into a situation, not by willing defeat and so forth.

Recognizing people with inability to comprehend such things and bearing with their weakness, with or without patience of teaching, or not teaching. Paul talks about how the believer should act with others, but is it a staple of faith. If we pray for one another, to grow strong in faith and maturity of faith in God, then part of that maturity is learning to get along and no longer acting like children. It is a social teaching not just a teaching in faith. That is where people of no faith do not understand about faith in God verses no faith. They teach their children responsibility without God. Why then is faith so important.

What is a day with God like verses a day without God. A day without God is a day without a friend that knows all and has the power to communicate the future and give guidance, direction and protection against the elements of our world we live in. To give us the ability to fight the enemy, that so readily attacks, with peace and love. To learn to show love and peace in times of opposition. To teach us to show mercy to those around us with less knowledge. God sometimes even provides the words in war, to cause peace. Yet we have a responsibility to pray and seek God for the solution to the problems. See God sees the problems from all sides, not just yours or his. His will is to cause peace, but he does not cave in to sin. He does not cave in to evil. He sees us as less knowing, and tries to help. Yet we have to be willing to receive God's help. That what it is like to walk daily with Jesus. To strive in peace. Peace and safety is a meth of reality, but a possibility with God.

Dear Heavenly Father, as people make peace first with you, help us then make peace with those around us in unity and negotiation. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:Ephesians 6:11-19 KJV
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
