What Is That Man Has Done

Daily Devotions:

by Christina Farris

Luke 23:26-49 KJV
26 And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.
27 And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.
28 But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
29 For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.
30 Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
31 For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
32 And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.
33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.
36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,
37 And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
47 Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.
48 And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.
49 And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.

It is a cruel morning when you wake only to realize how cruel our world really is. An innocent man went to the cross because of what man felt was right in their own sight. It matters not if they were Roman or Jew, all people have the ability to be evil toward each other. Does a good man not kill and justify himself by the law. Does not the law justify itself by the people. Vigilianty law has no law but the law of the crowd. A few years ago before President Trump took office probably when President Obama was in office we seen vigilianty law try to rise in the streets of some major cities. I do not doubt that it shook our nation that these things were happening in their city streets, but then again why did it surprise any of us. Corruption in any nation is not unrealistic, some behind closed doors and others in the streets. On the news we see how large cities have tent cities in their parks and any place a tent is welcome, with sanitation problems. Yet most that are in that situation are probably thankful for that tent or for a place to lay their head at night. Yet there no way to control the situation with computer age in full swing, the job markets changing only give heed to the less demand of human labor, when robots can do their job. Be nice to own a robot to work for you and to be able to trade it in for a new model just so people could work longer hours and better pay, yet still do what you want during the day, because your robot is at work doing the work. No greed will keep the robot working for free labor and people out of work. This is the corruption that takes place in a world of diginitaries tired of the crowd. The point is how far is man going to go in this age to get what they want only to destroy what they got.

Jesus found himself going to the cross and watching the women follow. The women perhaps understood greater then the men of the journey Christ was taking to the cross. Women in Bible days were treated no different then less then 200 years ago before woman liberation and woman right too vote in the USA. Woman knew what it was to serve others and take whatever was dealt to them in this life by the oppressor of men. God had created man but his creation was corrupt. If you think for a while on this you understand how disappointing the corruption of man must be to God. Jesus said to the woman that if they will do this to a green tree what will they do to a dry one? And what it saying is what man is doing to the innocent/virgin what will man due to the corrupt. Many dictators in history have fallen to their own people due to a lack of good judgment, yet even good leaders have died innocently. If the corruption of man will kill the innocent the corruption of man will destroy the world one day. If good people are corrupt enough to be part of the crowd, they do so without fault. Woman stood beside the cross in John 19. The women were still following despite what the crowd did to Jesus. Jesus was still teaching going to the cross not just through his pacisifism but through his speech to the woman.

God darken the earth from about 6 to 9 in the evening and earthquake rumbled the earth. Luke does not record the other people rising. Yet we understand it shook the crowd the events that occured. Jesus before dying still had enough strength to say Father forgive them for they know not what they do. He was crying don't blame these people for my death. Today people blame each other for many things. Man blames man for the death of Christ. That day the sins of the people died when Christ died, their sins covered by stone in a tomb. Then Christ arose on the third day. He would minister to the people for forty days in Galilee after his death. He did not cause vigilanty among the people, he did not cause mischief, his teaching caused people be either to be repented or to walk away because of guilt of sin of what he taught against. God's word brings guilt upon the people. Not all repent some get revengeful and others get angry and walk away instead of trying it God's way through repentance and getting a second chance at living right before God.

Who is God that would allowed such an up rising. In truth God needed not to harden man heart, for man's heart is evil. Yet man turns from evil when they can see good and desire the goodness and love of God. Perhaps Christ death was not just the need of repentance, but a journey to see the corruption of man on the innocent. Maybe it more then just burying our sin to get a second chance with no rememberance of sin, but a reality check that man ignores their wickness to live clean once again as if nothing ever happened. Christ swept the sin right under the rug so to speak and kept right on teaching. He never stopped teaching his people despite the sin and evilness that befell the day of the crucifixion. If man could sweep the sin under the rug so to speak, then God would too. How many times do we forgive without seeking revenge. How many times do we allow revenge to rule us. Yet a day is coming God will revenge the world of sin and wickness, and the sky will not just darken but fire and flames of hell will burn with the darkness of night giving no light to the souls caught in eternity of hell because of their sin.

If we desire to know a God that can sweep our sin under the rug and remember them no more, upon faith in his Son, then we need to realize that we do get a second chance to know the ways of God and to live for Him, instead of living in the filth of our unrighteousness and no ability of our own to turn away from corruption. Yet our chance comes not by our own doing but because of Jesus and our faith in him. Without the cross, our sins would never be buried for eternity. Without the cross the third day would not of occurred where the innocent begotten Son of God arose to victory over the sins of the world, and by doing so He enabled every person the ability to rise to victory by living a life for Him by following in his footsteps living a life pleasing to God and being forgiven of sin. Are we willing to live in corruption of the world or are we willing to live for Jesus walking in truth and righteousness toward God despite the sins of the world. Are we willing to say forgive them Lord for they know not what they do. The corruption of man against the truth of God's word is what spiritual world is about. It what the world lives for the ability to get one over on someone verses the truth of God's word. To destroy the innocent of youth despite the innocent of the person that chose God's way verses the wrong way.

Where is your heart this morning are you willing to walk in the pathway of God following after Christ or would rather live in the corruption of world not caring what the world might do to you as well. If they will do it to the innocent/virgin, they will do it to the guilty eventually. If they will do it to God's Son, they will definitely destory the people of corruption. God uses the corruption of man to show how his love is greater still. The corruption of man is thinking he is equal to God and even plays as if he is God, and if his thinking is such God will destroy or bring him to repentance.

Dear Heavenly Father, let us live for you not as people of unrighteousness but people following after the ways of Christ in all truth. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: John 19:25 KJV Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.

Mark 15:40-41 KJV
40 There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;
41 (Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.
