God Will Fight For You

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Exodus 14:1-31 KJV
1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baalzephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea.
3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.
4 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so.
5 And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?
6 And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him:
7 And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them.
8 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand.
9 But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.
10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.
11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?
12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
15 And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:
16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
19 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:
20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.
21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
23 And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,
25 And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians.
26 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.
27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.
29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.
31 And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.

The greatest adventure of our lives comes when God is on our side and he fights for us as individuals or groups of people. If you are a child of God, you will learn to know the power of God working in your life, if you do not already know it. Israel had not been gone long from Egypt when Pharaoh realize how good he had it with Israel working for him as slaves. He decided to go and get them back by force. It did not take the army of Pharaoh long to catch up with the number of Israelites traveling across the desert. You can move a small army quicker then thousands of people any day. One people not sure how to pack get things in their cart/wagon/stretcher of some sort. Plus you got to get all the kids moving in the same direction as the adults Lets not talk about pit stops and breakfast that morning before the journey began. All taking time, and yet despite that Pharaoh was fast approaching Israel God put a wall between them so they could only follow Israel into their death. If God be for you who can be against you. If God says hold your peace best do so, because it means the battle is going to be won by Him. God had Moses lift up his hand and the Red sea before them divided and Israel cross through the walls of water on both sides. No doubt Israel was concerned when they approached the Red sea. How would they cross it they murmured to each other, to Moses and to God. Moses told them God would fight for them and he lifted up his hand as the Lord told him to and the water divided and the children of Israel crossed over to the other side. I say none of us would say a thing with a cloud following us at night and pillar of fire before us and cloud behind us at night and before us in the day. The miracle and signs that followed Moses was enough to give anyone a shock. Maybe it was God's Spirit upon the people that moved them to just obedience when they approached the Red Sea. Whatever was the cause it did not cause doubt or discord among the people. As the Lord had said he would fight for the people. The people looking back seen Pharaoh and his men following them across the dry land that was parted, only to see their chariot wheels being struck in the earth. What happened next was Moses obeyed the Lord and the water began to recede back causing Pharaoh men to drown.

I do not care who you are when the power of God begins to work in your life a fear will overcome you. It not about a time of rejoicing that the enemy is defeated, but knowledge you are in good standing with God for the moment, and for how long will it be before you not. Our human nature of wow God did this for me, or for my people will only last for a few days, no the story of Israel leaving Egypt would be repeated for centuries. To hold our peace when we want to fight, to hold our peace when we want to take charge of our situation we are in, is hard in the human sense, but God has the ability to fight two wars. The war of opposition caused by the enemy and war within the human brain that in rebellion against God in times of trouble. Our human instinct calmed by the power of God. I can only speak from my own experience what I think Israel must of felt at the moment of seeing the hand of God fight their battle by natures forces. Seeing the enemy die by the power of God. Scripture does say that they feared God and believed in God and believed Moses that day.

Peace in the storm, peace in the battle only can come from God. To hold one's peace is not to speak without thought or wisdom. To say nothing would be the wised decision. Israel in the honeymoon stage of their relationship with God. This is an personal encounter with God in a mighty way. This is not just about simple faith in Egypt where a woman built a little ark and placed her son in and he was saved, this is faith being stretched to a fear factor level of a living God that cared about them so much as to destroy the enemy with one sweep of rushing water flowing over top of their enemies, like in the days of Noah when the flood came to the mockers of faith.

Science still tries to disprove this story, but there is evidence and proof the chariots got stuck in the mud, or at least that what they think they see in the bottom of the Red sea today. That is where faith must be applied. With proof it makes the story more believable to the believer, and to the nonbeliever it gives a shimmer of hope. Does God still fight our battles, the answer is yes. Maybe the war we are fighting is not as dramatic as the Red Sea event in Exodus, we can rest assured if we are on God's side, he got our back. Hold your peace and let God fight your battles. Ask the Lord what you need to do and if He lays on your heart he fight your battle, then hold your peace. God won the battle over sin through His Son Jesus, he will win those battles in your life as long as your on his side.

Don't worry about complaining to God or being angry at times in faith, it when we need to rest in God's power and ability instead of allowing our emotions to control us. Yet if we are going to allow God to work in our life we have to learn to trust in God and hold our peace and see what God is going to do. Rest in peace knowing the first battle upon receiving Christ as Savior is won against the devil. Your second battle is long running it is the fight to avoid sin, and the third battle may come against the devil or those around you that torment you to try and destory you. Rest in the peace of God, because he will establish you and enable you to be all He desire you to be for His kingdom in glory. Be on the winning side and trust in Jesus today. Trust in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Stand in faith knowing the adversary the devil is trying to destory you. Guess what you are a child of God with faith in Christ Jesus.

If you look at the battle of Armageddon in the Continual Scripture Study, you will see God is fighting the battle against the devil. The battle of finality is coming, it is a battle that God will win, not the powers of the earth. Nor the power of the enemies, but his power and strength as he commands the angel to pour out the sixth vial, the seventh vial is to come.

Dear Heavenly Father, bring us peace in the storms and battle of faith against the enemy knowing you will fight our battles. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:16:12-21 KJV
12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.
13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.
17 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.
18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.
19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.
20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.
21 And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.
