Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Luke 18:35-43 KJV
35 And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:
36 And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.
37 And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.
38 And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
39 And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
40 And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him,
41 Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.
42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.
43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.

Everywhere Jesus went he came peacefully. He came without argument. Yet many argued, or caused a disturbance when they came to Jesus. The pharisees and Lawyers often question Jesus, and Jesus reponse would wow the crowd. Yet when it came to healing the crowd tended to push the handicap away. Rebuking them to leave Jesus alone. How could one person be louder then the crowd that Jesus would hear How could a crowd deny the healing of a person in need. How could the noise of this one man be so disturbing to a crowd of people that they told him to be quiet. What we know is the man wanted to see Jesus. He was determined to be heard. Jesus told them to bring the man to him. Jesus was a man of compassion. He healed people with faith as well as needing faith. This man had faith, he heard somewhere about Jesus. Jesus calmly not irrationally, told the man to "receive his sight, his faith had saved thee." Sometimes we have receive despite how much faith we have. This man of faith need to receive because of His faith.

The type of disturbance this man was making was only wanted to be hushed by unbelievers, not by Jesus. Jesus only shut up one type of being and that was devil/demons. He would tell demons to hold their peace and they were force by the power of God/ Holy Spirit not to argue with Jesus. Pharisees often tried to find fault with Jesus, Jesus rebuke this type of demon with peace and teaching truth. Yet the spiritual demons were cast out by power of the Holy Spirit. There is a point Jesus came preaching with the authority of peace, not with argumentive speech, but speech that would quiet those in opposition, not those that were not in opposition. If you remember the story of the triumphal entry in Luke 22:19 when the crowd praised Jesus and worshipped him, the pharisees rebuked Jesus to stop his followers and he told them the rocks would cry out if he did not allow it. Praise of God is not to be stopped, but I tell you the devil will not like it. Even devil's could not fool Jesus when they mocked him in form of worship(Luke 4: 41). God is not pleased with mockery. Even the devil knows how to imitate worshippers of faith. Do not be surprised at this, but take the authority and power that given to all believers to prayer first and rebuke those that worship only in mockery. Do it through explanation of worship as well as casting out devils.

There are minister and teachers that can preach as good as a real believer. Give a nonbeliever the tools they will use it for profit and stardom only. There are minister of faith that will preach and teach by the power of the Holy Spirit because of their love for God and His Son. Do not deny someone the opportunity to speak by power of God. Those not knowing God that preach even when mocking the altar call. Those ministers know not the Spirit. Those that mock God for healing or other things of God beware God's wrath is coming. Let us praise and worship God with open heart, let us shout so the whole world will hear the Gospels of Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father let us be aware of our own motives of worship and seeking you, not in mockery of faith but because worship of faith is truth and joy to one's heart. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion: Luke 4:33-41 KJV
33 And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,
34 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.
35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.
36 And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.
37 And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about.
38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.
39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.
40 Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
41 And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.
