Carry Your Cross
09/29/2016

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Luke 9:22-25 KJV
(22) Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.
(23) And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
(24) For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
(25) For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?

Taking up one’s cross is something does not mean you carry alone. Jesus carried a cross up to Mount Calvary that was to big for him to carry. Simeon of Cyrene help carry that cross. Is anything to big for God to carry alone. God created the heavens and the earth and all that is within it. Jesus walked the earth and trained men and women to share the Gospel. His cross to share who He is. The cross of carrying our sin on his shoulders, because of how he created us like Him in his image, but not Him.

First of us God does not need us to carry his cross. After all He sent us A Savior that was His word and came in human flesh. The human part of flesh needed the help to carry to Mount Calvary, but Christ needed no one to carry his burden, after all he already survived a scouring/beating, lost of blood, His weakness, he still lifted his cross. What I think is a soldier that grab Simon of Cyrene to help Jesus, only did it out of human mercy, of not understand who Jesus was and is. If you loose a lot of blood quickly it will kill you, loose the same amount slowly and you will live. The whipping would not of been slow, the blood poured would have been as quick as each ripping of the flesh from the hooks and stones in the tips of the nine tails of the whip could be pulled from the flesh, by the flick of the wrist. Yet Jesus stood and carried His cross. In the flesh Jesus would have had the power to have the strength of God, but used his human power to carry his burden.

There is point Jesus carried his cross like you and I have too. One step at a time, while suffering because of the world sin against us. It about the election status Christian claim over others. The world has a view we think we are superior, not realizing we are still in all our humanity, just with edge the help of the Holy Spirit because we choose to obey. Jesus walked the earth calling all to testify of God and Him. To share the Gospel and to be a light/candle/star of the goodness of God, His Son and the Holy Spirit. Because of our humanity the darkness that not God sometimes shine forth, instead of the victory through Christ Jesus, because we believe we have victory through faith. We take up the burden of our humanity of not being all we are by saying I am sinner. Carrying the cross of our imperfection, but never paying the spiritual price for it but sometimes the physical price for it.

Who are we in Christ, but a child of the King, We inherit heaven and earth. Internal lake of fire is the habitation of the unforgiven and the wicked. Not a place designed for us but a place many people will go if they do not believe in Jesus the Only begotten Son and Word of God.

Dear Heavenly has we pick up the cross of our imperfection without paying spiritual price of our cross upon belief, let us carry the price of the world not understanding of our faith and our hope. Help people to understand their need for salvation, the need for security that your Son can only bring, through his death and resurrection. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study for Devotion:

Philippians 2:16-18 KJV
(16) Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
(17) Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.
(18) For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.
