Foreknowledge Of Jesus vs The Foreknowledge Of Man

Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris

Luke 22:7-38 KJV
(7) Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.
(8) And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.
(9) And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare?
(10) And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in.
(11) And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
(12) And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.
(13) And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.
(14) And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.
(15) And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
(16) For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
(17) And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
(18) For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
(19) And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
(20) Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
(21) But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.
(22) And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!
(23) And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.
(24) And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.
(25) And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.
(26) But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.
(27) For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.
(28) Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.
(29) And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;
(30) That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
(31) And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
(32) But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
(33) And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.
(34) And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.
(35) And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.
(36) Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
(37) For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
(38) And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.

The foreknowledge of death loomed over the disciples as Jesus prepared them for his dying. Did not understand the words or political and religious effect Jesus was fixing to have on the world not just for a time period but globally that would shake the very core of all governments and religious institutions. Reshaping of religious idea of sacrifice for sins of the world.

I can only imagine the foreknowledge of Jesus death before his death was like something not fully realize until it happened. No the knowledge was there for others had died because of faith long before Jesus. Roman society barbaric to Israelís religious society, but not to the palace of Israel. Roman had gone into many lands and conquered only to have temples of other cultures reestablished. Perhaps one reason it reestablished is solely in their view a psychological benefit or the need of any gods or goddess help in their ancient world. Yet anyone causing any type of uprising against the government would be killed and the people massacred. Jesus was consider to have caused a religious uprising but now with his entrance into Jerusalem on a donkey a political uprising.

Foreknowledge of Jesus as pure prophesy from God. The prophesy of man is like a meteorologist looking at all his instruments and declaring a storm or impeding disaster. It comes with the understanding of the times we live in. Newscasters and even people who understand the times we live in can predict some future events to come without knowledge of time or place necessarily. What Jesus knew from the beginning of his ministry and from the dawn of time is that He would have to die for the sins of the world. The disciples may of understood from the fact they no longer lived under Israel authority but under the super power of Rome. Yet there would be there is several prophesies in the passage I have posted and one was finding of the upper room. The finding in the upper room could have been preplanned, but probably not. After all the only clue as a pitcher of water and to follow the man to the upper room. Then the prophesy of Peter going to deny Jesus. That was something that would not been able to be proven unless Peter had doubts of who Jesus was, but even Peter understood that Jesus was the Christ. Peter would have to deal with all three prophesies. Yet the denial and the cock crowing would bring him to his knees.

How many prophesy of God would it take you to bend to your knees. A divine prophesy would mean something not predictable by man every time. It would be foreknowledge of the Spirit speaking to the heart of events to come of no human control. Peter own reaction would bring him to his knees that he could ever betray His Lord. Experiencing this type of foreknowledge in your life is only for spiritual growth to enable you to trust God more daily and understand his forgiving power. Do not worry if you come to a place of denial, be more concern with your refusal to humble yourself before God. It took Peter three prophesy coming to pass for him to understand. It took Peter seeing the risen Savior to know for sure of His saving grace, so he could preach the word of God.

Dear Heavenly Father give us understanding and wisdom in spiritual prophesy and just human understanding of the world around us. May we know you are still the speaker to the human heart that shares the things of your Father with your children. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Acts 2:22-24 KJV
(22) Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
(23) Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
(24) Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.
