|Time Of Christ: Seek Ye First
Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris
Seeking God first does not mean you do not work for your supper. Does not mean God will perform a miracle so you can eat and dine on earthly food. Over the years I have learn several things in life. Godís table is not always physical blessing of food, but it is always a spiritual blessing of food. Now some would say that hypocritical and others would say it is true. Israel had not learn to seek God on their own when water and food was supplied. Israel was still seeking Moses and complaining to Moses about being hungry and need of water. Yet none of things matter if you have spiritual food correct. Israel had plenty of spiritual food, the testimony of the cloud by day and the fire by night going before them. Yet it was not enough to produce faith to seek God.
Seeking the kingdom of God is learning to trust God at his word. If he says all these things will be add, your daily needs and so forth you can take it to the bank as being so. However what is supplied might not be steak. If you ever walked in the wood, and know that food is around you, but it has no value to you until you know what the food source is and how to pick it. It will sit in the woods until the end of time, until you learn what you can eat and not eat. Will the word of God seeking Him, is much the same way. To know how to seek God one is never going be hear from God.
First one must come with a repented heart, a soul seeking deliverance and forgiveness for sin. Seeking to know the one true God and not the things of this world. Come seeking God so you will be wealthy with gold might be the huges mistake you ever made. A man seen the wealth of preaching every Sunday to a mega church, so he decided to start his own. The man borrow several good sermons that he thought would delight a crowd. What the man did not know the entertainments was not what would draw a crowd of Godís people or the lost for very long. Instead he draw a crowd with itching ears that desired only to hear things they desired. He knew not to seek God beyond what he seen in the since of the wealth of the church. It is these type of people that will draw a crowd but live in whoredom of the ways of God. No one is perfect and we all sin, but it is those that desire to change not for God that are not his. God the one that fine tune a person who seeks and desires to know a holy God. To ask Jesus in ones heart is to know the forgiveness of sin. To ask God into oneís life is inviting him in to change you. To seek God first is to allow Him to enable you to use talents and gifts of God for his service, as well as to feed you. A person with the gift of auto mechanic will feed themselves in this world as long as their broken vehicles, but when the car industry figures how to keep things from breaking there be no more cars to repair. In Godís kingdom the food supply is available, but the high from doing something you love is different. It is exaltation of self and self worth and not God. One day the hands of the mechanic will no longer work as well as it use too. The auto mechanic body will fail just like everyone elses, but without God there is no eternity of hope. Without seeking God first it may be to late for eternity. The promises of provision might come from your current skills. After all did not the fishermen that were Christ disciples not still fish throughout Christ ministry. Paul was a tent maker, but he still taught the ways of God and Christ.
Point is do not expect manna to always fall from the sky, God provision is not always miracle in the way we define miracles. Yet our eternity can be secure by seeking God first and not packing our bags but going where God leads us to go for whatever duration he desire us to go in. He will provide for the road He leads you down. Elijah ran from God only for God to use the direction he ran in and provided him with a meal that would last him forty days. To seek God is to go in the direction He tells you to go. Not worrying about provision.
Dear Heavenly Father help us to seek you first knowing your provision will last the length of time it needs too. In Jesus precious name, Amen.
