|Are You Worthy?
Daily Devotions: by Christina Farris
Years ago I went to a renewal of a coupleís fiftieth wedding anniversary. Being part of the wedding party, I noticed a young man talking to older gentlemen dressed in denim jeans and old t-shirt. He was out of place from the rest of the guest. What I did not know is he was a good friend of the man that redid his vows. The young man may have been under dressed for the occasion but he was more then welcome to be there no matter what he wore. Another story of a preacher throwing someone out of church for wearing a seductive garment, saying if you can not wear something decent do not show up again. I became angry that the minister would alienate anyone from church. As I began to think on these two stories of worthiness and unworthy, I began to realize at either time did I know the two that showed up undress for their role in the group meeting hey were attending. I knew not the motivation of the attendance of either only that both were under dress for the meetings. I knew not if they were visitors or people known to those in attendance.
As I thought on these two things this morning this passage came to mine of the king invite all to come in from the highways and byways only to turn one person away because they had no wedding garment. Were not invited, was there requirement of what one could wear to occasion of the kingís sonís wedding. The king call the man he would cast out a friend, but he treated him like a thief or vagabond. Had the king given instruction on what they should wear.
It is strange how a person can say all is welcome, but in truth only a few is truly welcome. Who is welcome at our Lordís Savior but those ready to dine on what the Lord is giving to eat. Who is worthy but those willing to take up their cross and follow Jesus. Who is worthy not one person is worthy for no one wants to carry their cross. There is times that Jesus truly carries the cross of His chosen people. Yet his people chosen whether carrying their cross or not is wearing their garment of faith. Those without a garment have no faith. They are naked because they believe not.
God only outcast the unbeliever and the unrepented from heavenly kingdom. He cast out the sinner with covering for sin. The boy not dressed appropriately was covered by knowing the man renewing his vows. The woman not covered in enough clothing to protect within the walls of the sanctuary. Are you acquainted with Jesus, do you know him. All is invited but not all will remain to dine for the wedding feast. We all will stand before our judge and some will here Jesus say I never knew you and others will be dressed with faith in Jesus and He will say I know you. God knows everyone. Not everyone is known by the Son. Known by the Word of God. Not all are covered by Jesus. God calls you friend because He created you, but you chose what garment you wear to the feast.
Dear Heavenly Father thank you for the wedding garment of faith in Jesus. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Matthew 7:21-23 KJV
(21) Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
(22) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
(23) And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
