The Rescue: Lesson 24
10/24/2021

Daily Devotions:
by Christina Farris

Matthew 9:1-8 KJV
1 And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city.
2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.
3 And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.
4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?
5 For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?
6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
7 And he arose, and departed to his house.
8 But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.

Through out scripture we see that Son of man has power to forgive sin being maybe the hardest gift at times that man kind truly give to another person. It is the one gift of forgiveness that man truly has the power to give. The power to heal is truly not our power, it has to come from God, despite our wishes to be able to see all healed, all cured of all diseases it is not the power of man to control. Science will claim that power and even ministers, but in truth there always someone not healed for whatever reason, if nothing more then a lack of faith, or evil desire within the heart. The scribes had issue with Jesus saying your sins are forgiven to a man with palsy. Jesus could see their very heart and knew their thoughts on the issue. And so he said with the power he had to demonstrate, which is it easier to say your sins are forgiven or to say get up and walk. Realize a man with palsy, muscles were weak, and his ability to stand limited, and yet Jesus said "arise and take up your bed and walk". The man got up and walked and went home.

Which is truly easier for man to do, to simply say you are forgiven or to get up and walk? Sometimes to forgive is the hardest thing mankind will do. Murder, rape, incest, gossip, and more maybe some of the chiefest sins to say your sins are forgiven. For God the sin that seems to be hardest for him to forgive but he can when asked, is adultry, idolatry, murder, sexual immorality, and a few more. Yet there is only one sin God does not forgive and it is blasyphme of the Holy Spirit. What does it mean to repent to God about all sin and any sin you do, it means to turn away from sin and seek him.

I will admit even I struggle with some forgiveness. Even of recent events in my life. Yet I to must come to a place of forgiveness, or I will never heal from the anger of what someone did. Where do we go from here. Man repents or did Jesus say your sins are forgiven get up and walk. Did he even ask for forgiveness, the answer is he didn't even ask and was forgiven. What then it is imply he was a sinner because of his disability or was there sin in this man life that was done from his cot in perhaps even his heart. Jesus did not say what is sin was, but that it was forgiven.

What then can we say to a person not healed and we prayed for them, there sin not forgiven, no. The power is not ours to own to heal another in the physical sense, it the power of God to heal, but it was used to demonstrate that man had the power to forgive. If you think of the law of eye for eye and tooth for tooth, how many teeth do you have left you offended someone? I doubt if you have any eyes left. Truth being if we continue to be blind by the power to forgive being greater then the power to heal, we fail to see the healing that occurs in the world over the simpliest diseases, verses the incurable ones.

Miracles done in Jesus ministry many were uncurable at the time he walked this earth, except by the power of God. If explore the evil heart of the people that were witnesses of the miracles, we have to wonder what did they know about the person, the sins, or even the situation of the person life. Its worse then big brother of our day knowing every move we make. It is the sin of rumors, gossip, and even anger because a person unable to work or do what is helpful to someone else and then they are jealous because of their inability and then a person being cured. Whatever was plaguing the scribes, the teachers of the law about this one man whose sins were forgiven, only demonstrates there inability to have compassion before or after this man was healed.

These teachers would of been still angry at Jesus for using power to heal. However the crowd glorified God. And so my friends why did Jesus have people swarming around him, not because of what he said to the scribes but because all they saw was the healing and knew at the minimum that a prophet was in their mist. Yesterday I wrote about Melchizedec and his status of high priest as well as Jesus being High Priest in the order of Melchizedec. Jesus had many titles, from prophet, seer, teacher, minister, and so forth, but his role of High Priest not fully seen until his resurrection more proof of his forgiveness of mankind sin against him, and the reality of obedience, and faith in God truly has in person life. The sins of the world is against man, but the sins against God is individual, just like Adam and Eve, just like Cain, and just like Satan original sin, being no doubt the first to sin against God by claiming his power and his worthiness to be God. This very act got him cast our of heaven, for he was angel of light at one time as the story goes. This one act will not be forgiven by God.

Christ equality to God then has to be defined and it is through out scripture, but also he speaks his equality with God. We however do not have the equality with God our Creator or even Christ. The only thing we have in common denominator with Christ is his humanity for his authority is given by God because of who he is as the Word of God in the flesh. If we see ourselves equal to him in any other way we are no longer a child of God but a child of devil. As children of God we are priest and kings/queens in his kingdom, but we do not have the power or authority but what is given to mankind by God through his word, through his Son and Spirit. The power given is to forgive sin. We might even believe we can not forgive for a time, but as child of God, he will not leave us in a place we can not forgive. He will not leave us in a place of sorrow and need of repentance for eternity. He wants to free us from the inability to forgive. He may even speak to our hearts about that sin being in our own life or the life or others we see. It may be in such away we know we been forgiven for much more perhaps. How much can we crucify Christ daily with sin in our life and how much do we crucify others in our life? How many stones can we throw and not realize our own sin. The law only becoming defined as something once broken must some how then be forgiven by man as the crime breaker comes out of jail, or never goes to court for whatever reason.

This man healed of palsy was evidence we could forgive man, but all the crowd could see was the healing to glorify God, no mention of the power given to man. The hallelujah define by what we see, or by what we hear. Often by only what we see, because if we listen to God's Spirit in own life, we understand much more. A man once told me and he was minister, he said they will forgive you if you repent. I sitting wondering what I did and to who. Then I realized whatever it was about, God either had not revealed to me or the minister was judging me for something I may not of known I did. Point can we forgive even those things someone else is unaware of. We need to choose forgiveness over anger and hate.

This morning I got three pets running around the house, and I not sure which one I want to kill more, because of things they keep getting into. Perhaps the kitten. No not literally kill, but it hard to type of forgiveness when one has those pesky varminents running around playing. Only proof one's power to forgive has to come from love and not anger. Yet the antics of the littlest one is priceless no matter how bad he is. Point is no matter if the dog chews your old shoe, or the cat continues his hissing match or the kitten works on tearing down the shade, it can be humorous if your on the other side of the computer and not trying to type. Point no matter how evil our situations are in life, sometimes there is humorous side to the picture. The humorous side is our humanity to get up and walk only to find ourselves flat on the ground once more. As we toddle in faith, we learn we land up repenting sometimes more then we stand. Sometimes we learn over years of faith, that we no longer on the ground, but actually climbed to the mountain top only to fall and trip to the valley below.

If you growing old you may feel on top of the mountain in our prime, but as you age, you find your life changing one step and stumble at a time. We think it easy in our prime because we standing solid, it harder as we age, because we are set in our ways, our attitudes, and our reason for harboring feelings of unforgiveness for even longer. To know we have the power to forgive because Christ said so, should mean more to you has a believer, because his power to forgive you also rest in your ability to show God's unconditional love in your life. Where does the power to forgive come from it comes from God through his love for us. That how the law of eye for eye and tooth for a tooth is abolished through Christ through our love and forgiveness for one another. Law points our sin our, but our action changes to forgiveness.

Dear Heavenly Father, let us not just see a miracle of faith in healing but that power you gave to mankind long ago to forgive and not to think an eye for eye or a tooth for a tooth. In Jesus precious name, Amen.

Continual Scripture Study: Exodus 21:22-27 KJV
22 If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.
23 And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,
24 Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
25 Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.
26 And if a man smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye's sake.
27 And if he smite out his manservant's tooth, or his maidservant's tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth's sake.

Matthew 5:38-48 KJV
38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.
41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
